It’s up to Reid and Obama if they want to shut down the government over ObamaCare.

All on them.

RE :”Senate tosses shutdown hot potato back to House”

OK so they failed to stop this Reid in Senate, got 18 GOPs of 47 to vote NO on cloture, it was an uphill battle for sure.

So House GOP has their own approach
Here's a rather bad way it could turn out based on tax fight.

Say plan A was Cruz plan, related to prior house bill, but Reid replaced that with his CR sent to House
So say now House GOP comes up with plan B which instead delays Ocare it for year.
Most Dems and ~ 30to 40 conservatives reject it as not good enough.

So Bohner just puts up Reids bill AS IS and passes with Dem votes

Then On to to Debt limit fight.

Not really...
The Commercial Weather companies, and the big airlines, have access to numerous countries satellites. Weather isn’t a government monopoly anymore.

Skybox Imaging will even be launching the first private weather satellites later this year. There are already private climate imaging satelites in orbit, too.

The big majors have their own meteorology departments...

Ya know, I've heard this before from a Senator from Accuweather, er, Pennsylvania, who claimed we did not need the National Weather Service.

But yet, all of the other weather services are utilizing the underlying data from the NWS.

We're a bit late in the year for tornadoes, but good grief would there be an uproar if the NWS could not issue a Tornado Warning because of lack of funding.

Flake (R-AZ)and Hatch (R-UT) did not vote. I do not know why.

” but good grief would there be an uproar if the NWS could not issue a Tornado Warning because of lack of funding.”

Which won’t happen, and didn’t happen during the last shutdown, either.

Given the history of these Radical Academic Socialists, though. I wouldn’t put it past them to shutter the most visible (and harming the most people) parts of government.

The House should break it up into smaller parts and tack on defund-obamacare onto each of the component parts.
Do you want to fund education or obamacare, you can’t have both?
Do you want to fund FEMA or obamacare, you can’t have both?
Do you want to fund congressional pay or obamacare, you cant’ have both?
Do you want to fund FBI and DEA or obamacare, you can’t have both?
...
etc.

That’s probably the best suggestion I’ve heard yet. Break out the omnibus cr into individual measures and let the Senate hack through them separately. Simply refuse to deliver a cr funding Deathcare. The Dims don’t have enough clout in the House to force a Deathcare cr, so it dies by default.

Brilliant.

But that sounds like an awful lot of work for the House weenies ...

Actually it is to the advantage of Republicans.

Vote for the rat and you get Obamacare on January 1. Your choice.

Then you find out who “we the people” really are.

Congress should send it right back with Obamacare and the Senate defunded! Elections have meanings. The people clearly sent the message that we need to quit waisting money like drunken democrats; that's why the republicans still hold the house.

Now is a good time to pray for courage for those in Congress.

The Republicans should approve the funding but only if every single Federal employee including congress is mandated in. And they should strike any exemption to anyone Obama let out.

I wish they would shut the government on a more permanent basis. It has grown like a tumor into something vile.

I like that idea. Every time they send a bill up to the senate the funding for a lib cause gets cut deeper and deeper.

If the government shuts down so be it. I really don’t care at this point if the GOP gets the blame. They should wear it like a badge of honor. They should loudly proclaim that they shut the government down to save the nation.

In the real world they will likely fold like a cheap suit. Their track record shows me they have no spine or balls.

I doubt that delaying this bill will be any kind of advantage for the Democrats. A bad bill is still a bad bill, and I think a majority of the population realizes this. If the GOP has any brains - and I doubt this very much - they will bash the Dems over the head with this in the next election cycle. Frankly, they have a number of issues they can bash the Dems with, but will they do it?

"Article says Flake and Hatch were out of town."

Apparently they both needed to vote:

What should they do? Impeach nobama (and prosecute his minions throughout the administration) for raping Free America in many ways.

Actually, shutting down the NWS could have a major impact on air travel.

Everything would eventually adjust. The aviation industry has it's own equipment to get by on.

It is a lot of work, but there is a substantial body of House representatives completely willing to do it. However ... Boehner is in charge. And he's proven to be a big government socialist weenie himself. So, individual fund continuing resolutions may only be a pipe dream. Though I would dance for joy if that is indeed what comes out of the House.

That would be the best thing to do. Even if only for a week or a few days. There is no need for the urgency being portrayed by media.

Precisely. Of course, when airplanes do not fall out of the sky on October 1, well then how would you like a little rioting breaking out?
