But what if the Senate passes the one with the Vitter amendment? Does that mean we get full implementation of Obamacare, with that one modification?

That’s a disastrous deal for us, since the whole Congressional exemption thing is a trifle compared to the full impact of Obamacare.

I think they won't. Obama has already made it clear he won't sign anything but a "clean" bill. This amendment, while not what we need, puts the Democrats in an indefensible position.

On second thought, it's too soon for this. Shut down the government for a few weeks, then offer this.

The Vitter amendment will be an implied stamp of approval for all past and future illegal carve/exemptions from Obamacare. IOW, unless Congress passes a bill that specifies exactly which group/company/labor union must remain subject to Obamacare, the president may exempt all others.

Also, by making this public, we have signaled surrender to THE issue; saving our nation from the cruelties of Obamacare.

That is true Jedi, but we can't stop obamacare with an attachment to a CR so this is the next best thing.

By this time next year, right before the 2014 midterms, most of the Country will be screaming for it's elimination, the free riders will love it.

I won’t go so far as to say it’s disastrous, but it’s not a good deal. Members of Congress by in large are quite wealthy: this really isn’t going to impact them.
