That’s just the thing, the reasoned and sophisticated options tend to go out the window PDQ. So I think that bloodshed will end up being the order of the day. Hence my most of my opposition to secession.
I think it’s probably time to start discussing options before it’s staring us in the face.

We could designate half the states Liberal and the other half Conservative, and form TWO different countries, with each group moving to consolidate themselves in their selected geographical area.
THEN we could see how each of the respective goverments would rule.
After all; it worked with East and West Pakistan, when British rule was lifted from the Indian sub continent.
And It's worked out pretty good with Israel and 'Palestine'.
I'll bet it would be as peaceful as Ireland and Northern Ireland, too!
