A new survey of 18 congressional districts found that 55 percent support GOP efforts to delay the individual mandate in the battle over how to fund the government.
The poll, commissioned by the conservative American Action Forum (AAF), found that 52 percent of swing-district voters support delaying the mandate in the must-pass government spending bill.
ObamaCare requires that most people carry health insurance starting in 2014. House Republicans on Saturday passed a continuing resolution that would delay this rule, along with the rest of the healthcare law, for one year.
The GOP argues that individuals should not be required to purchase health insurance next year because the administration is not requiring larger employers to offer it until 2015.
The survey from Republican pollster OnMessage suggests some support for this reasoning, especially in what the polling memo called the political "battleground."
"Clearly, most voters see such a delay as nothing more than common sense given the fact that the administration has already delayed the corporate mandate," the memo stated.

No part of existing law should be capriciously delayed, let it all take effect at once. Congress weasels from both sides are just hoping to delay it until after the next election. Do it all now and let it burn.
Imagine how many more would support defunding or delay if phrasing in these polls weren’t biased!
This is excellent news and needs to be spread. So far the House has been reasonable. It’s the President and Senate, all Dems, that refuse to budge.
That needs to be the meme. Any “shut down” is Democratically sponsored. The next hardball is don’t make up any lost payments. It’s the Democrat’s constituents that will squeal the loudest.
Republicans need to jump on this, make sure everyone knows the delay is perfectly reasonable and is being rejected by rats.
“One faction of one party, in one house of Congress, in one branch of government doesn’t get to shut down the entire government just to refight the results of an election,” Obama said. “Keeping the people’s government open is not a concession to me. Keeping vital services running and hundreds of thousands of Americans on the job is not something you ‘give’ to the other side. It’s our basic responsibility.”
Speaking to lawmakers, he added: “You don’t get to extract a ransom for doing your job; for doing what you’re supposed to be doing anyway; or just because there’s a law there that you don’t like.”
Obama’s living in the past. He’s not king of America. The people had a new election in 2012 and why is Obama trying to undo that?
Boehner mocked the president on the House floor afterward, mimicking an agitated Obama as he recalled his words, “I’m not going to negotiate. I’m not going to negotiate. We’re not going to do this.”
“Well, I would say to the president, ‘This is not about me,’” Boehner continued. “And it’s not about Republicans here in Congress. It’s about fairness for the American people.”
Somebody needs to find that video, the one of Boehner mocking Obama, and post it, email it and let it go viral. The brat won’t like it. He takes everything personally.
I hear what you are saying. Unfortunately, the media is so in the tank for Democrats and Obama. The media are blaming all of this in Republicans.
And the media aren’t even doing any real news analysis of this story. Their focus is strictly on who we should blame. There are no stories that I have seen, which review how we got to this point. There would be some Democrat blame to discuss in such a story. But the media won’t go there.
This is my strategy. The HOUSE GOP should provide a funding bill that funds OBAMACARE and repeals all of the OBAMA Waivers. They should say if the President does not want to compromise, then here is OBAMACARE in all it glory. If Obama via his clown Reid reject the bill, then the GOP stance should be, SOOOO you are willing to compromise- then LET’s compromise.....
Instead, they're insisting on overloading a system that's not ready for prime time.
I had another thought. Most healthy people not among the financially insane will take the high-deductible policies but not bother to put money aside to cover the deductible. There will be a huge market for bank loans to cover the deductible when people get really sick. Those loans will cause yet more defaults, down the road. Another debt they'll never get out from under.
To delay it is to entrench it and to defer the reaction beyond the 2014 election. Make them pay; do not delay.
There is even more support for making Congress, the White House and all federal workers subject to all the same rules as the rest of us. Upwards of 90%, I believe. but these polls don’t get reported as much.
Simply amazing. Almost 50% of this poll is not in favor of debate when no one knows what the ramifications that will result from Obamacare and IRS involvement. How will you be effected under Obamacare? Ask your doctor and he says he doesn’t know. Who knows? What’s covered, what isn’t? How much will your deductible be? How much copay? Wouldn’t anyone like to know what to expect once this monstrosity becomes law? Are these the low information voters or rather no information voters.
