'All about power and leverage' -- feds shut down major roadway, block access to graveyard (TN)

Folks who live in the Great Smoky Mountains have just about reached their breaking point with the federal government.

“It’s almost like they are pushing to see how far they can push before the American people say enough is enough,” said Ed Mitchell, the mayor of Blount County, Tenn. “We were founded on a declaration of independence. And they are about to push the people to the line again.”

Nearly a third of Blount County is inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. So when the federal government shut down the park, it also shut down one of the area’s chief sources of revenue.

The National Park Service also closed the Foothills Parkway, a major thoroughfare in the county. The closure came without warning and left the local school district scrambling to get children back to their homes.

(snip)

Even more insulting is the National Park Service won’t allow family members to visit old grave sites.

“Some of them have family members buried there,” the mayor said. “And they go and visit every week at the churches still in the cove. They are not able to do that.”

It’s gotten to the point where Mayor Mitchell said Americans are ready to start fighting back. “It’s almost like they are pushing to see how far they can push before the American people say enough is enough,” he said.

“My thread on Saturday got pulled for saying this but the federal employees who are doing this need to be named and shamed. They are just as culpable as Obama is.
What gets rewarded gets repeated. Naming and photoing the actual federal employees who are carrying out the orders issued from on-high will go along way towards encouraging federal employees who are doing this to not act this way again.”

Those feds that are doing this also live nearby, so the locals know who these people are and will remember it, especially in the holls of Tennessee.

Have you noticed how the federal employees, park guards and local law enforcement types are all claiming they hate it, but they are just doing their jobs. Just like the camp guards in Germany. They were just doing their jobs.
This shows you how easy it is for a tyrant to get away with crimes against citizens. Those that could stand up and say no to an unlawful act just shrug and go along with it. Just doing their jobs they say.

You give them too much credit. We outnumber them thousands to one, and will not sit idly by, waiting for the knock at the door.

That is a very sobering thought.

“Does it take them shooting at us before we begin to fight?”

I’m afraid it does. If a citizen fires upon Federal agents, then Obama’s excuse for martial law is in the bag.

If on the other hand, Federal agents shoot down an unarmed citizen, then.....wait a second.......that’s already happened, hasn’t it?

Be afraid, people, be very afraid.

Agreed. Regarding your point 1: That was the near exact thought of German industrialists and political power brokers in the very early 1930s regarding Adolph Hitler; that they could control him. And I’m not using this Hitler comparison lightly.

Little mentioned is that those graves are not federally owned.

One of the conditions at the time of the park’s founding was that the families of the people buried there could visit in perpetuity. Not at the whim of the feds.

And they are well aware of it.

This won’t last very long before they back down or there is trouble.

There are some hinky things about the Smokies stemming from the fact that the People of Tennessee and North Carolina with a big assist from the Rockefellers, bought the park. There are things about it that don’t apply in other parks.

It needs to be a local uprising and at the moment no one there seems willing to push back. Hopefully upping the ante like this will get folks more motivated.

“That’s what the WON wants—can you say Marshall Law?”

“Is that like the Marshall Plan?”

Or is it more like Marshall amplifiers?

We are getting close to the point where a siege of DC is in order.

Try enforcing that up in those mountains. Luckily for the Feds those Scots-Irish are such a quiet, peace-loving people that don’t carry an ounce of revenge in their bodies.

I’m sure they still think is Ted Cruz’s fault. Or Bush’s.

I read that there were more Scots-Irish in the revolutionary war than any other group, which I thought was pretty neat. My paternal ancestors were Scots-Irish.

Ohio State.

Anyways, didn’t they pass last year or the year before to allow drone attacks on US citizens that they deemed a threat to the US government?

I think Bammy is waiting to declare martial law and start droning the those anarchists that don’t tow the line.
