Valley Forge Park closed by federal shutdown

As runners, bikers and even a few visitors from outside of Pennsylvania came to the Valley Forge National Park Tuesday, a U.S. park ranger stood about 20 feet from the entrance turning them away.

Calling the park led to a voice message explaining the entire park is closed and will not open again until the federal government opens again, which no one has a prediction for.

Runners were told to go their cars and leave and the park, which will be closed for the duration of the shutdown.

Great thread. I’m thinking ahead to November...Veterans Day...specifically laying the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknowns. I would pay money to hear the rabble (conservatives) boo our bum in the White House. Or better yet, yell...You Lie!!! I am a volunteer at the Park. We got the notification well over a week ago. (We had planned maintenance scheduled for 10/5.) Without a Ranger present (on their own time), we cannot do work unattended..safety reasons.
