John Cornyn seeks to protect right flank with first TV ad

Senate Minority Whip John Cornyn (R-Tex.) released the first television ad of his reelection campaign Monday in an attempt to shore up his image among conservative voters.

"National Journal named him the second most conservative senator in America," says the narrator of the 30-second spot. The commercial mentions Cornyn's votes against Obamacare and support for "smaller government" and a balanced budget amendment, among other things.

Cornyn has not attracted any major primary challengers yet, but he is taking the potential threat of one very seriously. The fact that he is releasing a TV ad at this early stage of the election cycle reflects this.

A Cornyn campaign aide said the ad is airing statewide, with several hundred thousand dollars behind it.

Astonishing how phony these people are.

I think I’ve figured it out. The dems and the repubs get together to form their strategy. The dems say “We’ll spend like hell and give stuff away to liberals and they’ll vote for us.”

The repubs say “We’ll pretend to fight you guys and the conservatives will vote for us.”

Then they all say in unison “And we’ll all cash in!”

I just saw it played during a fox and friends commercial. It won’t work for me, it’s too late. Cornyn crossed the rubicon of conservative politics.

Who do you think will run against him in the primary?

I don’t know. I wish we could get Gohmert to.

Bingo! Too late. You cannot be a John McCain anymore, a progressive in DC and a conservative at home. We've seen too many. We know how the game works. People aren't in the mood to be forgiving of policital sins. They're destroying the country from DC and you're with them or withus.

Cornyn is with them and the GOP voters in Texas know that. Bye bye Jon Boy.

I have already told his office I will work to defeat him in the primary and vote democrat in the general election if he wins. Last time Texas got rid of the establishment candidate, we were rewarded with Ted Cruz.

If he has to “shore up his image” then he needs to be replaced in the primary. Pols who need to shore up their images always manage to look just as tarnished after they have been re-elected.

Cornyn can run all the ads and spend all the money he wants. I’m done with him here. I’ve sent him communication to that effect. Not that he gets any of it because he never answers his phones. We don’t have to be stuck with Cornyn. Taking a long look at Eric Wyatt.

I’d could handle Cornyn if he was from New Jersey or Ohio. But we expect the best from Texas. Cruz was a spectacular upgrade from KBH, who should be hanging out with Christine Todd Whitman in the Hamptons in a suburban zoning committee.

He should make an ad where he says, “Build that dang fence.”

It worked for one clown.

Senator Cornyn, it all boils down to this:

The Silent Majority is what you call the TEA Party.

Deal with it.

The only thing that is “new” is THE NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY.

RINO Hunting Season begins 1-1-2014.

BTW, this 2014 RINO hunt has no bag limits, tents or caves - - -

Speaking of Rafael Cruz, if anybody is interested in hearing him speak, he’s the guest speaker for a fundraiser BBQ for Robertson County Texas Republican Party on Oct 24th in Franklin.

Where: Pridgeon Center, 351 Cooks Ln, Franklin, TX
When: Thurs, Oct 24 @ 6:45 PM
Cost $5 plus there’s an auction.

Not really trying to advertise for them, but it’s an opportunity to hear Ted Cruz’ father tell his story, if you’re interested.

He’s already lost his primary. Make plans for your next career as a K St. lobbyist, John. Texas conservatives can’t wait to retire you in ‘14.
