VALLEY FORGE, Pa. (AP) - A marathoner says he was fined $100 for running in Valley Forge National Historical Park during the government shutdown.
John Bell, 56, said he parked his car on Sunday in a remote parking lot, not one blocked by a barrier. Bell, of Chadds Ford, said two rangers were waiting with their car lights flashing when he returned.

File a lawsuit against the officers as acting outside their area of authority. Publicity will hopefully make them uncomfortable.

It is so damn amazing that the “park is closed” and they are able to have park rangers patrolling it.
Similar thing happened here in the People’s Republik of NJ. They closed the parks during a shutdown, but had park police patrol it. We ignored the “closed” signs rode our mountain bikes on the trails anyway. F-em.
The Nat. Military Park in my town has been full of people walking the loop road after work.

He already paid in taxes that support the Fed’s management of said park. Seems to me that all of the national parks and monuments are owned by the taxpayers rather than those who we allow to manage them.
