The Washington Times ^ | 10-9-2013

Just because the government has gone into shutdown mode doesn’t mean members of Congress have to give up their exercise routines.

Per order of House Speaker John A. Boehner ’s office: Keep the members-only workout facility open for use, the New York Post reported. The liberal group Think Progress initially reported the order.

Did you read the article? The gym has been there since it was built under a DEMOCRAT PRESIDENT (JFK). Should it be blown up?

Why not tell us the REST of the story? The gym is not being staffed or supplied during the shutdown, nor is it being maintained in hygenic gym conditions. As an observer related today, "it's beginning to stink".

Don't let's fall into the liberal moral-equivalency-trap which dictates, for instance, equating shutting veterans out of war monument areas with the tale of a now deserted, unmanned smelly gym which, by the way, Democrat legislators have used equally with Republicans over the decades.

I think most freepers can correctly figure out why the presstitutes jumped on the "pampered Republicans' gym" story with such alacrity and are sensationalizing it as hard as they can.

Wow. I'm impressed at how willing people here are to fall for Dem propaganda.

The liberal group Think Progress initially reported the order.

The gym is open in the sense that the door is unlocked, but it's not being staffed or even cleaned. And since it affects Dems as well, I guess Bambi is not ordering that even free services be discontinued, as he has done in the National Parks.

This is just an attempt to draw attention away from the fact that the Dem Senate won't even agree to accept the peon's conditions of having to go under Obamacare.

0bama isn’t negotiating and has been politicizing National Parks by forcing Park Rangers to act like prison guards not allowing the public onto the nations’s public parks.

That being said, nothing is going to improve in Washington as long as elected representatives including the Senate continue to have different rules for themselves. Lifetime pensions, special healthcare with exemptions from 0bamacare, members-only gyms and restaurants — all need to stop and changed to much less privileged benefits. Selected parts of the government are shutdown for political theatre and the public suffers while both sides posture and lie (mostly 0bama). This is the best argument for term limits.

Yes, there is a naive willingness among the American people to compy with Democrat propaganda.

We can’t stop complaining about Boehner because the past is prologue.

I’d like to see a simple emergency Federal court case be pushed by a group or groups with standing. The premise would be:

If Federal monies cannot be spent to keep Federal parks and other facilities open during a shutdown such as is going on right now, Federal monies must be prohibited from being spent in keeping open air facilities closed.

What they are doing is considering the government buildings to be essential services and keeping them open, so I don’t think a lawsuit would get very far.

It’s true that the Feds can claim that the National Parks are not essential and thus can legally get away with what is essentially just a punitive action.

But there’s no reason to prevent the parks from being kept open in those cases where the money is private or from the particular state where the park is located and the Feds just own the land, and I’d like to see some state or private group take this to court.

I’ll bet Boehner was so brazen that he ordered the bathrooms kept open.

Just more proof the ruling elite have become so intoxicated by power that they are completely ignorant of their feeling on entitlement and superiority over us.

THEY ARE OUR SERVANTS! We need to force them to act like it by any means necessary.

I put a couple of Federal Senator’s security guards in their place once and would love to do it again.

They are not the one’s wanting the shutdown. That’s on the president. Why should he get to close down congress’ gym? The jerk shouldn’t get to inflict pain on anyone the way he is.

Why not? Obama’s wife’s lackeys are still necessary, not all of them to be sure, but more are working now than any other First Lady has ever had. Plus the king is still keeping the golf course open.
