S&P futures are now over 15 points off the day's highs, as it seems equity investors were hoping for a Cumbaya moment after the White House meeting today. However, as Bloomberg reports,

•*BOEHNER LEAVES OBAMA MEETING WITHOUT SPEAKING TO REPORTERS •*REPUBLICANS LEAVE WHITE HOUSE WITHOUT MAKING STATEMENT •*OBAMA REJECTS REPUBLICAN PROPOSAL FOR SHORT-TERM PLAN: NYT It would seem that Obama's "unconditional surrender or default" position has merely placed the pressure to act back on Boehner's shoulders.

Obama is used to getting what he wants and he always does. Why stop now?

Boehner and McConnell want to punt past the 2014 midterms. Six weeks gets us to the Holidays. They are hoping nobody will be watching when they fully fund kenyancare with no strings.

S.O.S. from the losers in the beltway GOP.

“I agree. Reid is leading the way.”

It does appear to be that way, but I just cannot imagine Mr. Obama (with is monumental ego) allowing anyone else to call the shots. So, what is really going on here?

The MSM minimizes reporting the Republican side of the story. Republicans have to buy time and create 15 to 30 second spots that succinctly explain to the average moron Obama voter that they’ve been had. As I recall, Clinton took this approach in pinning the blame on R’s during his shutdown, and O’s actions have provided plenty of examples of his tyranny - the decisions he’s making to ensure punishment of what he sees as his subjects.

The Republicans have got to get better at PR - that’s where the war is.

The war is over. The GOP has caved and is not going to get anything out of this. They never could. They don’t have the votes. Period. All they did was crush their perception with voters. Because iPod this, which they never ever had a chance of winning because they had zero leverage, they just lost the House in 2014. GOP is truly the Stupid Party.

I’m sure that the Republicans were just itching to cave. Woulda thunk that it would be Obama who’d save them from their own cowardice?

Makes perfect sense to me—the GOP keeps negotiating itself down, why should the Democrats change tactics?

Levin has said, and I think he is correct - that Obama wants this shutdown and a standoff over the Debt ceiling for the sole purpose of justifying a unilateral decree to raise the debt limit by E.O. and set a precedent to become more than just a defacto dictator - but dictator in-full.

The narrative is that the Tea Party Conservatives are holding the country “hostage” and acting like “anarchists”; “terrorists” and “Traitors”. Even the GOP Ruling Class Leadership is on that bandwagon.

That gives Obama cover to simply and officially circumvent Congress altogether and rule by himself under the cassus belli that he cannot allow the country to ‘default’ and the ‘working men and women to suffer’ because of “politics”.

That’s win-win for Obama and the media has already suggested that course of action for him to follow.

What is at work here, is the official implementation of a dictatorial tyranny.

We’re just now beginning to see the iron fist petulant tactics that will become much more pronounced and targeted against enemies of the MarxoFascist state.

We will have but only one option left us to defend our liberties and nobody is even willing to let that thought enter their minds - so it may be a lost cause altogether.

I think it was Putin that said negotiating with obama is like playing chess with a pigeon. He struts all over the board like he owns it while knocking over the pieces, craps all over the board, and then flies away like he won.

Brilliant!

Boehner needs to confer with Cruz and Lee and like people to keep his resolve and/or backbone.

Exactly!
