Wal-Mart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, La., saw a stampede and a shelf-clearing rush Saturday after a computer glitch for food stamp recipients led to benefit cards allowing unlimited purchases.

Police were called as entire shelves were being cleared out, until the glitch was fixed and low-income residents using the cards were no longer allowed to make purchases.

Basic common sense is that for those who went over their ‘budget’, that amount should be deducted from future benefits.
Like common sense, LOL.

The RATE of welfarism varies primarily by fatherlessness, which is highly correlated with race so far.

Blacks have more (2x - 3x) more bastard babies.

First no freeby cards work nationwide, then give the holderites in Springhill and Mantsfield “all yo can grabs” reparations.

Looks like nobama is stirring em up.

Now I know “Mantsfield” and Springhill, there are MANY holderites in both, they go on the warpath, I would not want to be there until here come the Rednecks.

Maybe nobama figures on calling Martial Law as Queen Sheila spilled the beans on the House Floo. After seeing how idiotic this WhiteyHut really is, don’t put anything past him, but Martial Law will not go the way nobama hopes.

Time to check ammo again!

...they called corporate Wal-Mart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway.

Well, the card holders should enjoy negative balances on their cards until next month when they get a reduced amount until the overages are made up. But, the state probably won't do it so next best thing: This idiot "spokesman" should have his/her paycheck garnished until the amount is satisfied.

I seriously doubt that many Freepers are suggesting that blacks are the only takers. Everyone without the moral and ethical conscience to respect private property and the rights of others are takers at some point. While poverty and the breakdown of families contributes to the problem, it in no way holds exclusive rights to it. We witnessed taking and thievery at its most extreme with the trading activities that led up to the housing collapse, lying and fraud unchecked, committed by the most privileged.

Still, and you knew a but was coming, the violence and moral corruption that is occurring within the black community is a statistical reality that can’t be brushed off by throwing it into the mixed bag of American culture. I live in an area where Hispanics make up more than 80 percent of the population, and there is plenty of thievery, gang violence—though it has been on the decline here—and living on the public dole, but it is absolutely nothing like what an equally distributed black community would experience. I can’t say what would happen at the local Walmart, given the same circumstances, but I doubt it would be anything like what happened in a black community. There is a breakdown in black culture, black communities, that black people and the media need to address, and not by blaming it on white man, or by claiming every other demographic is the same, because that isn’t true.

It is time to start calling black violence and crime what it is, a black responsibility.

That’s what I was thinking -
Oh, you spent $700 on that evening?
Good, that’ll keep in you groceries for the next 10 months.

See ya then!

The “crack management staff” at Walmart saw what was going on and could have refused to honor these sales so let them suck up the potential loss.

This idiot "spokesman" should have his/her paycheck garnished until the amount is satisfied.

As a part-time Walmart associate it's obvious to me that neither of you have been across the register from a 300 pounder and her teen sons when her card was denied. The sense of entitlement is like nothing you've seen from behind your keyboards. To my thinking the folks at Walmart avoided a riot by letting them pass.

Also, the "crack management staff" (including the spokesman) has no authority to override the state laws and computers that accept or decline the transactions. Doing so would have put the company in the unenviable position of having to publicly explain why they committed such a "racist" act AND violated state laws in the process. That's a lot to expect of a small town retail manager.

I know it's easy and fashionable to bash Walmart whenever it's convenient but you should know that because of what Walmart is they (we) have become a focal point for the culture wars and you'd do well to put yourself in their shoes before you spout off behind the comfort of your computer.

There are no state laws, yet, forcing companies to hand out free food I am aware of. If there was, leftists would crash the system on a regular basis.

Quite possible. Leaving your sh**ty little comment about my keyboard aside, I hadn't thought of it from that angle, and I probably should have after seeing the video of the guy who popped a female clerk in the chops because she wouldn't sell him a cigar at a 41 cent discount. This bunch would have wrecked the store.

The best course probably would have been to just close the whole damned store, but that probably would have caused a riot too. Hard to say, because I just work these keyboard things for a living.

Here’s a “profound” idea: Why don’t we just make all food “free” and tax the living crap out of the people who work to pay for it. Make it like health care.

I was at a grocery store Saturday when the EBT system went down across several states. Some black woman was screaming at the top of her lungs at the clerks until the manager came out and told her to leave.

She was too dumb to understand it had nothing to do with the store or her, her gubmint cheeze was denied because of a glitch during a backup of the system.

Oh, and I think she could have went about a month without eating and would have been in no danger from her size.

It was instructive how rapidly people can turn into animals.

The implosion of the welfare state won’t be pretty. There are 10s of millions who will have no understanding of how to live life without somebody else’s assistance.

No, but I'd bet there are state laws about unilaterally declining purchases that have been approved by the state. There is no notification given at the register that the person is over their limit (save for the decline) nor is there even any notification that the person is using an EBT card unless there's a problem or they tell you. All the cashier knows is "the transaction was approved... next!"
