NEWTOWN, Conn. (AP) -- Contractors demolishing Sandy Hook Elementary School are being required to sign confidentiality agreements forbidding public discussion of the site, photographs or disclosure of any information about the building where 26 people were fatally shot last December.

Selectman Will Rodgers said officials want to protect the Newtown school where the 20 children and six educators were killed, The News-Times reported ( http://bit.ly/1amzP8L ).

"It's a very sensitive topic," he said Monday. "We want it to be handled in a respectful way."

Project manager Consigli Construction has barricaded the property and intends to screen the perimeter to prevent onlookers from taking photographs. Full-time security guards will ensure the site is not disturbed.

Very sad. I can’t imagine the horror experienced by the families of the children who were massacred that day.

The problem is that any “gun free zone” is a potential killing field.

IMO, it’s time to start arming some school personnel, and to rid the country of “gun free zones” wherever that exist.

I’m guess here that the future of the site will be indeterminate, just like the decade or so it took for the whats, ifs, ands, and therefores, of the World Trade Center to get resolved.

Expect a decade or two of survivors, families, connected parties, et al to remain resolutely diverse in their opinions of what ‘ought to be done.’

I assume they have entered the lawsuit phase.

Maybe....but, I’d imagine there is likely some contention on how and by who to file the lawsuit. Imagine dozens and dozens of lawyer groups and functionaries all jockeying to snap up the most families.....this has probably been going on for a while.

More ‘shutdown’ by the government ?

Sooner or later the people will come to understand that this government is being ‘shut down’. It must, in order for the new Socialist Caliphate to be established. Think they plan to re-open the Memorials and Parks ?

This is extremely odd.

Given that there are potentially lawyers and lawsuits involved, destruction of this building would seem to fall under the heading of "spoliation of evidence."

The statute of limitations hasn't even run.

What "evidence" is in the building 10 months after the shooting? Should every crime scene remain untouched until all of the legal issues regarding the crime are resolved?

Was this building already scheduled for demolition? Or is it being torn down just because of the shooting?

I would love to know what the State of Connecticut is hiding here. The State still has not released an unbiased report indicating what happened. They actually passed a law preventing the release of the information.Under the pretext that it would violate the rights of the victims which is B.S. since they’re dead.

How is the public to learn to prevent a disaster if they don’t learn the reasons they have occurred in the past?

This is a good application for a drone with a good camera on it.

“Very sensitive” indeed, imagine if what they found in the school does not match Official Reality?

What "freedom" has been shot down? When has there ever been open access to grisly crime scenes like the Newtown school?

Plenty of evidence - layout, doors, lines of sight, exit opportunities, the famous "security door" that was breached . . . and that's just off the top of my head.

Spoliation is a very, very serious matter. If they don't have an extremely good reason (contamination, asbestos, etc.) to demolish, most judges would view this as spoliation.

Yes, but any relevant information has likely already been documented, on video or photograph. Of course spoliation is a very serious matter — I’m an attorney, and deal with spoliation issues on a weekly, if not daily, basis — but I don’t think spoliation issues require the perpetual preservation of any location that was a crime scene just because litigation may arise out of the crime.

You don’t understand. You’re talking about the legal process and what happens in the real world. For some nutjobs, none of that is good enough. They want the crime scene to be thrown open to even amateur internet sleuth with a conspiracy theory.

There was no massacre at Sandy Hook. The whole thing was cooked up to scare everyone away from owning guns, and to boost the democrat agenda of systematic disarmament of this Country.

The extremely strange and inappropriate laughing and joking of "survivors" and "grieving families," coupled with the EXTREME SECRECY surrounding all events and "witnesses" tells us everything we need to know.

Watch the behavior of Gene Rosen, Sally Cox, Robbie Parker and the rest of the losers as they are interviewed. There is NOTHING IN THEIR BEHAVIOR to indicate these people have been through a tragedy/murder scene.
