LOL.... 1965 - Drill Sergeant Nelson .... Strange to many, but I loved the guy. I was RA and only 17 1/2, so I was still very stupid and I actually enjoyed some of those days. The beach, I hated double timing in the sand.

Fort Ord, man that brings back memories; marching through the Sea Oaks draping Spanish Moss, rifle range out in the ice-plant covered hills along the coast. I still remember that tunnel that ran under the highway.
Going thru basic there was almost surreal. But then there was Seaside to bring you back to reality, what a hole.

My father was stationed there, beginning in 1949. We lived on base for a while until my parents bought a house in Pebble Beach, where several other military families resided.
