Senate leaders reached agreement Wednesday to avert a threatened Treasury default and reopen the government after a partial, 16-day shutdown, according to a Republican senator who also said the House might vote first on the plan to speed its approval.

The New York Stock Exchange soared on the news that the threat of default was easing in, rising nearly 200 points by late morning.

"I understand they've come to an agreement but I'm going to let the leader announce that," Sen. Kelly Ayotte, R-N.H........

Well we’ve been here before...the vote hasn’t happened and sounds like they’re still debating what the bill is going to be....sheesh...

they are not debating what is in the bill, they are congratulating each other for coming to some kind of agreement, the details of which are not even yet clear, at least to me.

This seems like more kabuki tailored to put a time squeeze on the House and let the MSM cut them up if they don't toe the senate line, as I can well imagine that they will.

Sanctimonious self serving hypocrites.

Ayotte on again now, lamenting the effects of the shutdown, saying her own pre-teen kids are asking her why it happened and regretting the shutdown strategy. What is she regretting sounds like the Republican strategy. Sheesh, she is using her time to diss her fellow Republicans! for the children! what a hypocrite!

Will cruz get a chance to speak to the senate floor?

Nelson (D-FL) now on, speaking as if it is a done deal, and now apparently dissing the House Republicans in everything but name.

Nelson now recognizing need for consensus given the lack of same in the past few weeks, and the next hurdle being Jan. 15.

imho does not sound like there is any firm agreement with the House yet...

Sens. Cruz, Lee say they won't block deal
The Hill ^
"The deal...would fund the government through Jan. 15 and raise the debt-ceiling until February."

Heh, heh. Rumors of exaggeration started by crusty, old political chicks are cute.

-So we have a Group of 14 that were meeting.

-We have Lew’s meeting today with Obama and Biden.

-We have reference to a joint Senate-House committee meeting later.

Important to watch what they do not what they say.

So the question remains......what do they actually have to vote on?

Okay, folks! Let’s all cash in!

And do NOT vote for the republican party. There’s no use. It’s just there for show.

Finally, to make matters as good for you as possible, don’t talk bad about the dictator.

Sen Durbin (D-IL) now speaking 3 minutes past his time limit, talking about the need for better education (more funded education?) etc.

IMHO sounding like a campaign speech. why are campaign speeches allowed on the senate floor today if this is the last day before a us government default? i am getting big time cognitive dissonance...

No force?

Um, an encounter with the living loving Lord, if accepted, would be quite the force. And to Democrats as well.

The unicorns will poop out golden skittles.
Debt problem solved.

Well, except that this won’t work.

Anti-Christ (fake Christ) is term that comes to mind.

Sen Cruz now holding press conference answering the usual questions mostly in the usual manner.

Speaking about how the effort to block obamacare was not in vain (as reporter’s question involving angering other senators implied), that millions of americans are now discovering the problems associated with obamacare, seeing their premiums rise on the obamacare website, and experiencing associated job loss or weekly hour reduction, etc.

suddenly concluded the conference.

Senate just sitting there now, no one addressing floor, CSPAN playing classical music...

if there is some urgency, why is the senate not voting on their CR to raise the debt limit ASAP (now)???
