Hume: Tea Party pushed budget stand-off because GOP 'utterly failed' to restrain bloated gov't
Fox News ^ | 10/16/2013 | Brit Hume

...Senator Cruz and his adherents do not view things in conventional terms. They look back over the past half-century, including the supposedly golden era of Ronald Reagan, and see the uninterrupted forward march of the American left. Entitlement spending never stopped growing. The regulatory state continued to expand. The national debt grew and grew and finally in the Obama years, exploded. They see an American population becoming unrecognizable from the free and self-reliant people they thought they knew. And they see the Republican Party as having utterly failed to stop the drift toward an unfree nation supervised by an overweening and bloated bureaucracy. They are not interested in Republican policies that merely slow the growth of this leviathan. They want to stop it and reverse it. And they want to show their supporters they'll try anything to bring that about.

"And if some of those things turn out to be reckless and doomed, well so be it."

Brit Hume doesn’t get it. Brit Hume spent his time loathing Cruz and Lee, and harping against them.

He is simply now reingratiating himself with his base of readers and listeners now that they have lost. If the war were still ongoing, he’d be channeling Karl Rove, Lamar Alexander, and the like.

The ONLY 2 solid hosts supporting Cruz and Lee throughout were Sean Hannity and Rush Limbaugh.

All the rest, including Hume, Ingraham, et al were reporting on it as Tea Party Doomed to Failure Folly.

Failed?

The GOP “leadership” encouraged that bloat and castigated any of their members who dared to stand against it.

Worse than Quislings.

He only gets a small bit of it. Normally he’s right out there with the pack, denigrating Tea Party efforts and the candidate they support.

Its funny, I've heard several talking heads lamenting the deficit today, after focusing entirely on the shutdown over the past week without a word regarding the CAUSE of the shutdown. Trying to salvage their "fair & balanced" bona fides.

Its getting real easy to see through their bullish*t.

It’s going to take a long time to undo the damage done to the conservative movement by both President Bushs.

In time past you would have been excoriated for aying that. Proves that pain can wise people up. I didn't hate the Bushs but I certainly recognized them for what they were, the lessor of two evils. Sadly all that did was slow down the fall.

Brit Hume has been inhabiting Washington and NYC for far too long. He craves the approval of the Beltway Establishment. Hence, he must attack Cruz and the Tea Party. Since Beck left FOX I haven't watched it, and don't feel I've missed a thing.

Pretty much the tea party movement has made a roaring comeback.

I will gladly add Levin. I don’t get him here on the radio until very late, so your report is solid for me, mojito.

10pm-midnight is his local time, and I’m not listening to very much at all at that time. Rarely a movie, sometimes sports, and sometimes the internet, but most often I’ve dozed off. Old age is creeping up.

I’d include Gregg Gutfeld among those Fox hosts supporting Cruz and Lee. This guy is pretty deep in with the Tea Party.

He makes mincemeat of Bob Beckel on a daily basis with a biting sardonic humor.
