Former President Bill Clinton is warning fellow Democrats that conservative ideologues are reliable voters who could threaten his friend Terry McAuliffe's chances of becoming governor of Virginia.
Clinton joined McAuliffe Sunday for joint events and warned voters that Republican nominee Ken Cuccinelli is trying to energize his conservative base by using wedge issues such as abortion rights.
Clinton says the tactics certainly will fire people up and get them to the polling locations. But he says Democrats cannot relent and must "drag" their friends with them to the polls on Nov. 5.
Cuccinelli's campaign released a memo criticizing Clinton and McAuliffe's longtime friendship, reminding voters of controversies that occurred during Clinton's two terms in the White House. The Cuccinelli campaign says, quote, "Virginia neither needs nor deserves the McAuliffe-Clinton baggage."

While the shutdown supposedly hurt Cuccinelli, the Obamacare fiasco may help him, at just the right time.
Note that we are “ideologues” and not loyal American citizens.
I’m sure the GOP will respond. /s
satan jr campaigning for satan’s nephew.
If Lonegan can get within 10 in NJ against Booker, Cuccinelli should win by 2-3%. There’s always the specter of Democrat voter fraud thought.
Yesssss!
The headline should just read, “Clinton says to liberals,’A Booga, Booga, Booga’”
This is an example of modern decadent America. A vile rapist married to a lesbian gives moral and political instruction and has an audience.
It is instructive that with a viable guy like Ken we are still having trouble beating one of the 90s most vacant headed bag-man.
I hope Cuccinelli pulls it out, it will be heartbreaking if he doesn’t.
Clinton is a despicable POS. As George Will said “Not the worst President we have ever had, but clearly the worst person ever to serve as President.”
But I have to concede that he is an effective driver of the Democratic base GOTV. He came to Florida 3 days before the 2012 election, and the turnout among the usual suspects was so heavy in Miami Dade, they left the polling places open until midnight. Romney lost the state by ~ 70K votes.
Benghazi Hillary and BJ Clintoon; what a pair of losers.
That was in a national election with king barack on the ticket. Clintoon's record endorsing candidates in off-year elections, which typically only bring out the more dedicated voters, is not so great. I'm hoping and praying and donating for a Cuccinelli win - if McAuliffe wins I'm never going back to Virginia.
Only two replies for the comment I thought of immediately.
Ideologues are not bad to be.
I think ALL political people are ideologues ... just different definitions or directions of the idealism
That is code for; “Bring out ‘yer dead”
Yep. With Obamacare front and center, and this being Virginia, this is a bellwether election.
NoVA votes like NJ.
I hope so too... and those who thing Sarvis is a libertarian couldn’t be more wrong. He’s pro-abortion, pro-taxes and believes in man-made global warming. What he is, is democrat-lite.
A surge I can get behind.
And Virginia, the home of seven Presidents and once led by Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry and John Tyler, will reduce itself to a low-level chunk of liberal conquered real estate. And it'll be the laughing stock of the country. Even socialist California would have a problem electing this a-hole McAuliffe.
Cuccinelli has won every single debate hands-down over that vapid POS McAuliffe, but the voting public here in Virginia seems too enamored with the idea of voting for a democrat because it's "fashionable."
Must be something to cause people to vote for McAuliffe...because I have yet to read/hear anyone other than Bill and Hillary say anything good about McAuliffe. Even the MSM, which usually adores the lib...has nothing but bad things to say about ol’ Terry the slickster.
Sorry to be snarky...but ol’ Terry reminds me a lot of Mitt. No one really wants either...but got stuck.
Go Cooch!
