Vatican is an ‘enormous soft power’, says MP after visit

British parliamentarians have concluded their three-day visit to the Holy See.

Eleven members of the All Party Parliament Group, accompanied by the chaplain to Parliament Canon Pat Browne, met with the Pope on Wednesday, after the General Audience.

MP Edward Leigh declared after the three day visit that “The Holy See is an enormous soft power, it represent a religion of 1.2 billion people and so the British government and the British parliament is very interested in what the Vatican says.”

The Group, made up of representatives of both House of Parliament and all the major political parties, has encountered senior officials of the Secretariat of State, the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace and the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.

The visit continued through a meeting with Caritas Internationalis and with the Sant’Egidio Community, a Church association dedicated to evangelisation and charity through the world.

The group’s main role monitoring the relationship between Britain and the Holy See, exploring a broad range of issues pertaining to the Vatican and the work of the Catholic Church.

"Sir Edward said they were aware of “the important role that the Holy See continues to play in international affairs”, as Sir Edward said. “For instance, what the Pope did in his day of prayer [for Syria] I think was significant: as you know, the British parliament led the world in voting against the war, and the Vatican and other Church people had a role to play in all that”, he added."

No wonder the pope was too busy to meet with Netanyahu and Kerry about the peace talks between Israel and "Palestine" last week (But had time to meet Abbas).

If you believe in Natural Law and the Truth as given to us by Jesus Christ, then the Vatican can not but have huge influence.

Stalin’s condescending question “and how many divisions does the Pope have?” shows the arrogance and blindness of purely secular rulers.

Also, unlike the Sargent Schultz at 1600 Pa. Ave. who “Knows Nothing’, the Vatican has eyes and ears everywhere and for the most part knows or at least hears everything!

God triumphs over secular governments. The Holy Roman Church "was established by Jesus" and sees itself over all other churches outside itself. The Holy Roman Church should rule the world.

Speak to me about pride and arrogance.

I find it fascinating now. I wish we had more accurate and reliable news sources than we have now. For now we see in a "mirror dimly"

No. It would be a disaster, possibly spiraling into WWIII and nukes use. That would affect us all.

However, Israel is our largest export market in the MiddleEast, our interests in it and a few other Arab countries need to be defended. And if the Petro-dollar cycle is disrupted, we’re toast.

I’ve been watching.

Jewish Left is Solidly behind Pope Francis (Google David Rosen + Tony Blair too)
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3054875/posts?page=1#1

“Francis had indicated in July he would visit Israel in 2014 to mark the 50th anniversary of Pope Paul VI’s visit to Jerusalem in 1964, which took place before the Vatican recognized the State of Israel. “The government of Israel granted me a unique opportunity to come to Jerusalem,” Francis said at the time.”

“The visit would mark Francis’s second to the Holy Land. He visited in 1973, arriving just as the Yom Kippur War broke out. As The Times of Israel revealed in April, Jorge Mario Bergoglio (as he was known then) spent six days confined to his Jerusalem hotel, studying the Letters of Saint Paul to the Corinthians.”

Allow me to comment on your last remark:

"God triumphs over secular governments."

This is true.

" The Holy Roman Church "was established by Jesus" and sees itself over all other churches outside itself. "

That's either true (and therefore not pride and arrogance); or it's an honest mistake (and therefore not pride or arrogance.) It is does not behoove you to impute bad motives to people's religious convictions about Jesus Christ Our Lord and His Bride the Church, of which you yourself are a member.

"The Holy Roman Church should rule the world."

I know no one who says that. His kingdom is not of this world.

It’s complicated. Just keep your eyes on Jerusalem and your lamp filled with oil with some extra oil on hand.

“your lamp filled with oil with some extra oil on hand.”

Do you know that the lamp symbolizes your active faith and the oil symbolizes the amount of good works you have ALREADY done which reflects how active your faith, love of neighbor and God, has been?
