Docs resisting ObamaCare

New York doctors are treating ObamaCare like the plague, a new survey reveals.

A poll conducted by the New York State Medical Society finds that 44 percent of MDs said they are not participating in the nation’s new health-care plan.

Another 33 percent say they’re still not sure whether to become ObamaCare providers.

Only 23 percent of the 409 physicians queried said they’re taking patients who signed up through health exchanges.

“This is so poorly designed that a lot of doctors are afraid to participate,” said Dr. Sam Unterricht, president of the 29,000-member organization. “There’s a lot of resistance. Doctors don’t know what they’re going to get paid.”

Three out of four doctors who are participating in the program said they “had to participate” because of existing contractual obligations with an insurer or medical provider, not because they wanted to.

Only one in four “affirmatively” chose to sign up for the exchanges.

Nearly eight in 10 — 77 percent — said they had not been given a fee schedule to show much they’ll get paid if they sign up.

The survey invited doctors to anonymously share opinions about the new health care

“Obama Care wants to start right away, but who see all these new patients???? Not me,” e-mailed one doc.

Another said, “I plan to retire if this disaster is implemented. This is a train wreck.”

“I refuse to participate in the exchange plans! I am completely opposed to this new law,” said a third respondent.

One doctor recycled the mantra used to attack addictions: “The solution is simple: Just say no.”

One physician was so disgusted, he threatened to taken only cash patients going forward.

“I am seriously considering opting out of all insurance plans including Medicare because of [ObamaCare].”

And this is the very liberal New York. I don’t know that I’d want to go to a doctor that was a member of the Obamacare doctors. Looks like only 3rd rate doctors and scammers are signing up.

One of the offensive things in Hillarycare that they left out of this (learning their lesson) was the criminalization of getting or providing care outside of the system.

But... without (and maybe even with) that “feature”, people will not participate in the system.

If enough doctors would refuse to participate in Obamacare that would be the end of it.

My docs are not joining. Ask your doctor for his non-insurance rate which should be a lot less since they don’t have to file for insurance.

Well, you know where this is going. You will be urged to see a nurse-practioner. And you will see masses of doctors for India, Pakistan, Philipines, etc.

As in all things socialist, there will be no incentive to excel ... like become a doctor.

The government will likely give scholarships to go to medical school and get a pool of doctors who are getting paid low wages.

Funniest ever! I was at my doctors yesterday and I asked him what he thought of Obamacare.......he casually opened a drawer and took out a tube of lubricant.

Cant Obama or Coumo (NYS) have a few of these doctors publicly executed to make examples of them to scare the rest into complying?

Mao or Stalin wouldn't put up with this.

Your scenario is probably right. And it is all the more reason for doctors to protect themselves right now and refuse to go along with this thing. They will effectively lose business and/or make less money. And as Obamacare quickly morphs into single payer, socialized medicine they will lose even bigger.

Lastly, if they have any real concern for patients, they should stop this thing now. The quality of healthcare will certainly decline under Obamacare and its death panels.

My primary care doc and his PA wife decided to retire early a few years ago when Obamacare reared its ugly head. He made it perfectly clear to me that he wanted no part of it. It was a hassel for me as I had to find another doc, but I totally sympathized with his position.

I had dinner last night with an executive of a large property management company and when we talked about obamacare I pointed out I'm in that group of individuals losing the coverage I had because I'm self employed. Prior to discussing the solutions I found, she pointed out that when the employer mandate kicks in they are going to drop their health insurance plan and give their employees a flat fee to buy their own insurance. Of course they will reduce the flat fee by the cost of the penalty they will have to pay.

The solution I found was signing on with a Concierge Doctor and applying to a Christian Healthcare Co-op. The cost of the two services is equal to the premium I pay today as opposed to the premium I would have to pay next year which is double.

Looking for a Concierge Doctor was not as hard as I imagined, there seem to be a lot of them. The problem was most had already closed their practice to new members. If demand is that strong then I would expect more and more doctors to go this root.

The other thing people aren't looking at yet is most of the new enrollee's are signing up for medicaid. We already have fewer doctors willing to take medicaid because the reimbursement is so bad. I would expect more doctors to drop out of taking medicaid as they get overwhelmed and see no financial reward for the increased hours and aggravation they will have to live with.

We closed our practice and retired a few years earlier than planned because of this looming monstrosity. We know many docs who did the same and others who are continuing to do so. Who can blame them? American health care may be raped by these commies, but many docs won’t participate in that. Good luck, everyone. Stay healthy. Sad times are ahead.

The obamabots are going to learn that there is a big difference between having health insurance and receiving health care.
