Obamacare: More than 2 million people getting booted from existing health insurance plans
CBS News ^ | October 29, 2013 | by Jan Crawford

CBS News has learned more than two million Americans have been told they cannot renew their current insurance policies -- more than triple the number of people said to be buying insurance under the new Affordable Care Act, commonly known as Obamacare.

There have been estimates about hundreds of thousands of people losing coverage, CBS News' Jan Crawford reported on "CBS This Morning." CBS News has reached out to insurance companies across the country to determine some of the real numbers -- and this is just the tip of the iceberg, Crawford said. The people who are opening the letters are shocked to learn they can't keep their insurance policies despite President Obama's assurances to the contrary.

The White House is on the defensive trying to explain it, after Mr. Obama repeatedly said, "If you like your doctor or health care plan, you can keep it."

They say the new policies are better than the current ones are.

Lots of Mandated goodies, just like Trick or Treat.

CBS is clearly lying because our President 0bama promised people could retain their policies if they liked them. You've got to really watch the main stream media. They're after this guy.

This can’t be true. Obama said if I like my plan I can keep it. He said it. It must be true.

Looking for one of the pat responses:

1. He was for it before he was against it.
2. Depends on the what “is” is.

I choose #2 with a variation — depends on what “keep” means and who “you” is.

That is actually shockingly low if almost 20 million are privately insured through individual plans.

Actually, that’s pretty darn close to the thought processes of your average sheeperal.

I’m smart and a good person.
So, anyone I support is smart and a good person.
Obama must be smart and a good person.
He said I can keep my plan.
Anyone saying different must be a rightwing racist.

yes America just got served. And if you have ever seen the South Park episode about the saying getting served, you know what it really means.

One thing crossed my mind this morning. These folks being impacted now are ones with individual policies, i.e. those that don’t have policies through employers. This issue has come to light due to the “Individual Mandate” in place for this year. Are we going to see something similar, but on steroids next year when the “Employer Mandate” is enforced and all of those policies are required to meet O’s minimum standards?

Yes you are correct in your assumption that the one year delay to large employers pushed the bad news for most Americans out one more year.

People count on their medical insurance for their family. To have it jerked out from under them, must be putting huge stress on them. I wonder if those who are Democrats, will continue to vote for Democrat senators and representatives and president?

Needs to be repeated again and again.

The Democrat's approach is very pessimistic: lower the majority's standard of living so that the minority's standards can be raised. For some reason but they believe that they must TAKE to make things equitable. Maybe they hate those who “have.”

How about a more optimistic approach: maintain the majority’s standard of living while helping the less fortunate?
