Because it's not in keeping with their freaky treehugging liberal city motto, "Keepin' Austin Weird." No one with any common sense shops at Highland Mall. It's been overrun with the bad element types for years. A couple years ago, the mall wanted to close down during the track and field competiton weekend at UT because too much of that certain element would end up there every year and brought all sorts of trouble with it. But the powers that be wouldn't let the mall close because that would be racist.
Indeed, the people of Austin should enjoy the fruits of their liberal labors. The city's drug warriors should, too.
