Harkin pushes bill prohibiting workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity

Iowa Senator Tom Harkin, a Democrat, spoke on the Senate floor today urging passage of a bill that would prohibit workplace discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

Harkin said a vote in favor of the bill would be positive for both the House and Senate. “I think in the general public we’re probably about as popular as a toothache right now,” Harkin said. “But this week we can show the American people that we can come together and we can lift our eyes above the haze and the smoke, the horizon, and we can make this country a better place for all.”

Harkin is the chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee which passed what’s called the “Employment Non-Discrimination Act” in July. “Let’s do this and let’s bring to the American people what they think they have already and what they know they want — which is a society free of discrimination,” Harkin said.

The U.S. Senate is set to vote on the bill tonight. Reports say the bill is not expected to be brought up for a vote in the U.S. House.

Translation: He can see the Senate majority going up in smoke in November 2014, so he wants to get while the getting is good for his favorite groups. How does Iowa send people like this to Washington?

Please add "for a time." The pendulum always swings back, and when it does, the Left always swings FARTHER back.

You realize that heterosexual is a sexual orientation.

As is Pedophilia

"How does Iowa send people like this to Washington? "

Eastern Iowa is a strange place, full of former industrial small cities/towns.

Western Iowans are >> better, but of smaller headcount.

There is likely a Minnesota-like farmer-populist cohort in the mix too.

Can’t sexual orientation be multiple dimensional orthogonal?

How about giving people independent choice in health care? Harkin is playing a game of distraction.

This is a true story as well as a cautionary tale from another plant in our company.

Not too many years ago, one of the male employees decided he was a female. Management was not willing to let him use the female restroom out of fear of what could happen if the ladies rightly complained. Nor could they suggest he couldn't out of fear of what could happen on the legal front.

The "solution" was to convert the visitor's ladies lounge into a private privy for "it."

Then, when there was an occasional female visitor which needed to use the facilities, she was ushered back to the employee restroom since these stupid "rights" did not apply to visitors, only employees.

Consider the inconvenience just to accommodate a single "it" in the plant.

I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure Harkin, like most Dems, has not got a pendulum?

Good old Tom, the administration needs distraction and a change of conversation and he comes up with this. It’s almost like they preplanned it.

According to liberals, no one should ever take offense to freaks and hire them no matter what. So what if some freak male likes to sit in the girl’s bathroom to pee, or rape young boys in the butt, or mutilate himself and have a cutoffadicktomy, or wear women’s clothing, or marry his dog? We’re not to judge, but to accept.

However, liberals DO NOT ACCEPT RELIGION, FAITH, CHRISTIANS, OR ANY RELIGION AT ALL. They do love Muslims because Muslims are violent towards Jews and Christians.

Liberals are violent and must be stopped!
