That was my point. Reagan didn’t need the GOPe to break through. We need a new leader. Someone who can articulate our position and win hearts and minds, media be damned. Cucinelli wasn’t that guy either.

I don’t believe him. The RNC and state repubs allowed him to be defined before they started to fight back. It sounds way too familiar.

When the rest of Virgina seceeds from NoVa, we’ll have to call it Central Virginia to avoid being confused with the other West Virginia. Maybe Obama meant there’d be 57 states by the time he left office.

Virginia was always kind of flakey. Remember, the rats used to have West Virginia, and they’ve effectively flat-lined there, and I have to say, I am optimistic about Michigan and Illinois changing soon. They’re essentially red states with blue city states inside, and most of those cities are time bombs, with Detroit already having gone off.

I’m from deetroit where they don’t or can’t count so they just keep riding arounduntil the polls close. After being ordered to stay open a few more hours by the courts due to “problems”.

It was a couple of blocks away down a side street. I couldn’t see the whole lot. I’ve definitely seen them there before- in the General Election of 2012.

Although not an even trade, as we lose Virginia to the dark side, at the same time we are getting West Virginia in return.

Cuccinelli should be a great candidate. He’s great on the issues, bold, personable, attractive. The problem is once again that the opponents dumped a boatload of money early and defined our candidate. From there, it is basically a losing battle. There’s no coming back once you’ve been slimed effectively. Our party needs to figure this out. This race was 2012 revisited. We had multiple Senate candidates and Romney go through the same losing battle.

9,888-10,042 was the range for 2005/09, so Charlottesville is slightly off last turnout numbers. "NBC29 ‏@NBC29 2m Charlottesville voter turnout as of 4 PM: 8,837 or 27%"

I’m hoping along with you, but the difference is the Rats seem to have a strategy for turning states and we seem to be more reactionary.

We need to take West Virginia at the state level, the governorship especially. We’ll permanently take a senate seat from them in 2014.

Mixed. We’re on that fuzzy gray area between the cultural north and south. Lately, the Rats have been doing well here.
