Senate Dems, house GOP team up on health plan fix (What will Harry Reid do?)
Brainerd Dispatch ^ | 11/08/13

A rare bi-partisan move that would allow individual health insurance plans to remain in effect throughout 2014 was drafted by Mary Landrieu, D-La. and a similar measure was put forward by Rep. Fred Upton, R-Mich.

Recognizing the failure of Obamacare’s initial roll out, the unlikely move by Landrieu and Upton would allow individuals to forego the “forced” signup of the Affordable Care Act insurance until the kinks are worked out, hopefully by 2014.

Who knows, there may be hope for compromise in Washington. One can only hope, before this poorly written law leaves millions without health insurance coverage.

Will Dingy allow a vote that could save a few RATS and possibly his power? Wicked poor optics for Hussein and his death panels, though.

OR Dingy could stick with his dark, socialist heart and refuse a vote. The Kenyan would probably like it but Senate RATS will get creamed in the 2014 election and Harry will be reduced to a back-bencher.

What to do. What to do.

Reid: ‘Get over it. It’s the law. It’s the legacy of Barack Obama and always will be’

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has no plans to put legislation on the floor to delay any of the Obamacare deadlines, putting him in line with the White House. But it’s unclear how long Reid can hold off if the administration continues to stumble and pressure grows within his ranks to act in order to protect his fragile Senate majority.

One senior Senate Democratic aide predicted that no action on the law would be taken before the end of the year but added that all bets are off if the problems extend into 2014.

They will do whatever is necessary to preserve thier power. Power is thier core value. They may not care about all these problems with Obama Care if it pushes another few million into dependency and into the solid Democrat column, then they may just stand thier ground and let the 47% suffer. The GOP should not help them at all unless they name the act “The Tea Party was Right About the Shutdown After All Act of 2013”

reminder to GOP house members. this is the bitter, hate filled old bastard that called you “hostage takers” a month ago for talking about doing what he is ready to do now; alter the sacred healthcare bill.

Even worse choices for R’s. If they keep postponing the hard stuff until after critical elections and then softening the Obamacare blows, we will never get rid of it or progressivism.

I would prefer to see R’s let the system crash and burn as a monument to progressivism. That’s the only way to educate low-information voters.

Besides, everyone of the fixes just adds to the deficit. We already know that the deficit does not win elections, regardless how obscene. What does win elections is personal pain for voters that can be squarely pinned on one party.

Bring on the pain.

I don't get it... Why are Republicans trying, to fix, delay, or improve this law. this is the dem’s problem. The republicans should only offer to support a complete repeal and replace law.

Can’t they just ‘deem’ that everyone has signed up and go on about their business?

IIRC, that was one of the methods they were considering before this albatross got passed.

Hell no. Keep the mandate in place and make sure it is enforced with the energy and determination that wetlands violations are enforced! The LIVs are animals who only understand pain/pleasure.

It is probably too late to change Obamacare and Obama would probably veto.

End it, dont mend it.

I doubt there are enough bandaids in all of the Walmarts combined to 'mend' the website.

And, if the FED can't even do a website, what kind of monstrosity will result when they are trying to run healthcare?

The unintended consequences are going to provide fodder for the late night comedians for decades.

Too little, too late, dontcha think? It can’t be done.

This is nothing more than a CYA move by Rats in vulnerable districts who want nothing more than to delay of the inevitable pain and inconvenience until AFTER the 2014 election.

Millions of plans have been canceled (inc. mine) and millions more are slated to be canceled. They have to be because they don’t meet the requirements of the law and also because all those people whose plans have been canceled are supposed to flock to the exchanges. The exchanges need LOTS of warm bodies to pick up the slack of the sick and subsidized enrollees.

Insurers will set rates for 2015 starting next spring and the rates will be based on the pool of those who have signed up for new plans by then. They can’t set rates when the rules are in a constant state of flux.

The House should pass a bill stating that Democrats have to consult with Harry Reid for approval to any fixes to Obamacare.

It doesn’t help. These people are idiots.

Our health plans... MY health plan, My entire FAMILIES Health plans, my Grandmothers health plan... NO LONGER EXIST. The company that offered the policies my family uses sold off its policyholders to another when Obamacare took over.

There is NO keeping anything. The only glimmer of hope is if this law is entirely postponed so that insurance companies could draft up the old plans at warp speed. Because we all already have to sign up for something new from scratch.

Why does everyone keep acting like we can still delay? I know first hand. I’m living it. The plans are already gone!!!!!!!!
