I don’t think that book is going to work. They might also need ....

“What is a computer?, for DUmmies”

“How to turn on a computer, for DUmmies”

“What is the Internet for Dummies”

“How to Log On for DUmmies”

I have decided to not get sick.

You and I have the same healthcare plan.

I told my niece to go study herbal medicine. We'll be lucky if that's available.

That was one damned fascinating movie to watch...a nightmare indeed! Just some thoughts...

I loved the scene where Romy Schneider was being carried along on the guy’s shoulder and they are having the shouted conversation, and the look on her face was almost...bored!

I loved the movie! I have seen “Citizen Kane”, and it just never did a dang thing for me. But this was a load of fun to watch.

Thanks for that suggestion! Best one for a movie in years...

I loved the movie! I have seen “Citizen Kane”, and it just never did a dang thing for me.

Same with me.

I loved the scene where Romy Schneider was being carried along on the guy’s shoulder and they are having the shouted conversation, and the look on her face was almost...bored!

There are so many images that have stayed with me. The infinite office with people typing away endlessly. The cavernous buildings with dusty, abandoned books. The opening scene where Anthony Perkins is stumbling between nondescript, modern apartment buildings, on a rocky, lunar landscape, and then being causally interrogated by government agents, who are crawling all over his tiny apartment.

But this was a load of fun to watch.

I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I hesitate to recommend it, because it isn't a typical Hollywood movie. But it really is outstanding. Nothing captures for me the dull, impersonal, nightmarish world of the total state, as this movie does. It reminds me of every frustrating encounter I've had with the Total Bureaucracy.

It's the kind of movie that's best viewed alone, on a rainy night. You really want to immerse yourself in it.

You know what movie really came to mind when I was watching “The Trial”?

“After Hours”. In some searches online, I can see I am not the only one to draw that comparison.

It was creepy...all those huge sets, it looks like it was shot in Romania or something in 1962 in great big huge dilapidated cold war ruins...

No people anywhere, just big, broken, ugly buildings.
