Never watch the Leno show; maybe some Freeper who did catch it could fill us in on how it went for Cruz?
How did he look?
Its interesting to go back and watch Lenos interview with President Obama from this past August, andHere's MORE from EXCELLENT ANALYSIS by PAULA BOLYARD, posted on pjmedia.com:
compare the questions and tone with Lenos interview with Cruz last night...
...The most obviously noticeable difference is how often Leno interrupts Cruz compared to Obama.Leno lets the president finish nearly every answer.
Even when Obama lapses into "um...uh...uh..." Leno patiently waits for Obama to continue.-- snip --
From the very first question, you can see the difference in tone between the two interviews.
Leno to Obama:
Happy Birthday! How did you celebrate? What did you do?Leno to Cruz:- [responding to Obama's basketball comment] Youre pretty competitive, so...
Ive seen Michelle tease you about your gray hair youve got a bit of silver in your hair do you tease back?
Ive been reading a lot about you lately and they describe you as aggressive, arrogant, and abrasive. Accurate?Leno tosses the president a few softball questions to relax him and create a friendly atmosphere.- Any one of those? Can you believe any one of those?
What three adjectives would you use to describe...
With Cruz, he goes straight to the "everyone pretty much agrees that youre a jerk. Why do you think that is?" question...
Cruz was as smooth as a baby seal, Leno was agitated that the audience was responding with loud cheers to Cruz' common sense.
I don't know the political make up of that audience, but regardless of political affiliation, they hate obamacare.
Cruz was a big hit. Watch it on u-tube.
Ted looked and acted and sounded good. Leno = Delta Bravo
Don't waste your time watching it. Nothing earth shattering.
Don't even know why it's threadworthy
Leno is a privileged elite entertainer who has some good writers. Millions and millions of dollars in rare and expensive cars, lavish lifestyle and all the best Hollywood has to offer.
His obvious deference and servile attitude to Obama and any of his minions on air is sickening. My guess is any of his Obama jokes are pre-approved by the White House.
You could see that Leno was armed with all the leftist talking points and tried consistently to land a punch. And, he did come close one or two times, but Cruz’ resiliency stifled him. You could also see in Leno that small air of being afraid - once or twice he meekly shrugged his shoulders on ending a talking point question.
I think that what I’m calling Leno-as-afraid is something he and all the other entrenched liberal (and GOP) politicians see as they go whistling past the graveyard in trying to attack Cruz. They see - THEY KNOW - that Cruz carries with him all the right stuff, that Ronald Reagan style, and a very, very seriously committed number of people out here in real America that are behind him more than money, fame, fortune or entitlement can ever be.
Ideology, whether religious or political can’t really be bought. It has been responsible for genocide; and, in another vein, it was responsible for the founding of this country - two wildly different outcomes from basically the same thing. Here is where I see them as ‘afraid’, scared to death in fact. They know they really can’t stop a Cruz crusade under the right conditions even will all the cash in this country, and it scares them.
“How did he look?”
I thought pretty good, seeing as Leno was obviously hostile, and putting out a lot of “ums” and ‘huhs” when Cruz was talking, indicating he didn’t agree with Cruz and couldn’t wait for the chance to say so - very rude.. I rarely watch Leno but don’t recall him ever doing that with anyone else.
It would have been good if Cruz could have lightened the atmosphere and not come across so serious, but with Leno setting the tone like that, it just was not possible.
Very relaxed.
I was just watching the video from the link. Ted Cruz kept getting interrupted by Mr. Lowinfo. Leno is a certified idiot. Most, not all, of what Cruz did get out were platitudes.
While many are aghast at Leno’s hostile attitude, I think he actually did Cruz a favor. Cruz demonstrated that he can handle tough situations, not lose his composure, and has a wealth of information to back his stance. In my opinion, he certainly won over the crowd. At one point it appeared Leno had to go to break before Cruz could respond to an implication Leno threw out (typical Democrat trick of putting out false implications, then not allowing a response-much like we saw in the VA governor’s race). I view this much like sports. Do you want to see your team play the lowest ranked opponent or do you want to see them in a hotly contested match? Cruz showed he has the metal to go forward and the contest shows how badly Democrats fear him.
We watched it. My husband does NOT get swept away, but watches and analyzes. We both thot Ted Cruz did an excellent job! He stayed on topic, regardless of Leno’s constant interruptions. He was positive, focused. He knew what he thought and he did not hesitate to say it. You could tell he really believed it! How refreshing. We were both very impressed. Wished the cameras had focused on the loud and proud Tea Party contingent. Thanks RonDog et al.
Cruz was great. Lanternjaw was, too, until Cruz came out.
Then it was like some stagehand stuck a stick up his a**.
