Pit bull likely ate owner's hands

Two days after a dog bit off a woman's hand and her other arm, sources said her hands were likely eaten. And police said they had been to her home in the past for problems with the same dog.

Wilton's animal control officer had been called to the home of 65-year-old Anne Murray twice, both times on complaints that the pit bull had roamed off the property, police Lt. Don Wakeman said Wednesday.

Police have also come to Murray's home several times to arrest her 26-year-old son, Ian, according to state court records. Ian Murray was given a five-year suspended sentence after he was found guilty of a 2005 robbery and conspiracy to commit first-degree robbery. He was also found guilty of violating his probation in 2010 in connection with that case.

On Monday morning, a town police officer shot and killed the dog in the driveway of the home after it attacked Anne Murray.

Wakeman declined to comment on whether the 2-year-old pit bull, Tuxedo, had eaten the victim's limbs, but another law enforcement source said that most of the flesh and bone the animal ripped from the victim was not recovered at the scene. "Use your imagination as to what happened,'' the source said.

Murray lost all of one arm and the other up to the elbow in the attack, and suffered bite wounds all over her body, police said. Passing motorists saw the dog in the street and stopped to call 911. Murray was found under a car in her driveway, trying to shield herself from further attack.

Murray is recovering from her injuries at Norwalk Hospital, where her son, Matthew Murray, said Tuesday night that she was awake and hopeful of a full recovery.

Don’t be too hard on her. She was just giving her sweet, harmless dog a hand...or two.

What a surprise that the dog was also a problem.

Except for the piano recitals, won't be doing those again anytime soon. Plenty of time to work at the pit bull rescue shelter though.

Your dog will eat you. Your cat will eat you. Your hamster or gerbil will eat you. Hell, your fish will eat you if you venture into their habitat.

“It’s not the dog, it’s how the dog is raised.”

Sorry, I am not buying that line.
If that were true, it would apply to all breeds.
I have quite a few dogs around me that have no owner.
None of them so much as sneer or growl at people.
Anytime I hear of a dog incident in the US, it most often involves a Pit Bull, or as the blacks call them, pibulls, the favorite dog of boys in the hood.

I was bit by a miniature Pomeranian today, those dogs are mean.

The pit bull comforted me.

The idea that all pit bulls are aggressive killing machines is just stupid.

“You can say the same about any breed of dog.”

BS unless I have missed all the Labradoodle attacks on humans every week.

The dog has the muscle structure and temperament to be a killer in the hands of a bad owner.

It takes a ton of abuse to get other breeds to this level of viciousness.

I know there are always exceptions but the vast majority of pit bull owners I know are little guys (physically or mentally) and trying to compensate.

Don’t waste your time, when it comes to Pit Bulls they think like liberals and guns. it’s always the guns fault not the person that pulled the trigger, and with pits it’s always the breed, not the humans that bred them.

You can say the same about any breed of dog. It’s not the dog, it’s how the dog is raised.

Except if this goon had had a Bassett Hound and raised it exactly the same way, his poor ol' Ma would very, very probably still have her hands. :^)

Note: I am AGAINST breed banning. But even so, I know that really, it's a lot more "about" the breed than the owner.

Yeah, I can't tell you often i hear how the schnauzer killed a baby, or how the labrador ripped off arms and the Poodles are relentless for ripping throats...

Knuckles, the nicest dog we ever owned. Sure he's a hundred pound handful, spoiled rotten, still acts like a puppy and wants to make friends with everyone, but we love him.
