I take the commuter train to work and walk through Washington DC's Union Station every day. Beginning with their launch, Al Jazeera bought advertisements ALL THROUGH the station, and posters like the one below are absolutely everywhere - on the walls, on kiosks, even on the damned floor! It's mind-numbing eye pollution.
On the other hand, I kind of enjoy stepping on the Al Jazeera logo every day. :-)

Liberals will be screaming racism and demand public funding to keep it alive.

Al Jazeera is not getting an audience? Gee, why not? Did they get too much bad PR for being an outlet for Bin Laden and his propaganda???
To: Zakeet
Saudi-funded Wahabi propaganda machine isn’t a hit so far - maybe there’s hope yet. But the Saudis have a lot of money and they can keep trying until they hit on a winning formula - all they have to do is give their anti-Americanism a light leftist veneer and they’ll probably draw away what’s left of MSNBC’s audience.

The US offshoot of the Mideast news outfit managed fewer than half of the viewers who tuned in to its predecessor, Al Gores Current TV. When you think that Current would likely have been beaten by a 24/7 test pattern, this is truly amazing.

My membership here will probably be revoked, but I have watched AJA a few times and thought it's no better, no worse than the lamestream media here. I give AJA props — it reports a great deal of world news. It's not entirely focused on Obama 24/7. Fair and balanced — no, not by a long shot. But it seems more professional than most of the rest of the media outlets.
Definitely better than Current or MSNBC.

I am there with you, it actually isn’t a bad news organization, certainly not any worse than CNN or MSNBC, and certainly they are a better real news organization than Faux News.
I encourage people to get their news from many different sources, understanding each has their biases.

AJ showed how biased and leftard they were going to be in the first 5 minutes. Why watch another version of MSNBC?

Maybe they can do what that Pakistan TV network did and give baby girls away to prospective husbands
