America is at a critical, perhaps historic, turning point. There is potential now for a catastrophic failure of ObamaCare, which means a catastrophic failure for the last Kennedy, Barack Obama, and for left's American governance. Potentially we say goodbye now to the entire liberal establishment postwar: Kennedy, Johnson, Clinton and Obama, which could bring Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) to the presidency in 2016 and raise a new political era.
Three thoughts:
We enter a new political era that will be vastly different from the last. We might best think of our time here since 1776 as a prelude and the centuries ahead as the main event. Washington was the perfect center for America’s capital between North and South since 1776. But America today falls instead east and west between the Pacific and the Atlantic. And the center of such a vast and fully matured America should likewise be in the middle. Exotic it may sound, but if we don’t begin to take this into consideration today, there could in time be conflict. California will not long remain Washington's distant Tibet, and in time the “new” Western states will seek greater independence and autonomy from the “old” Eastern and colonial governance. The U.S. National Intelligence Council recently considered devolution into a "nonstate world." Already there is noise of “nation state” in California and extra-constitutional union with the Pacific Northwest and talk of it in California’s prestigious universities like Stanford and upscale neighborhoods like Silicon Valley....

On December 7th at Mount Vernon, state senator David Long of Indiana will host a meeting of delegates from at least twenty-six states to discuss the parliamentary rules for an Article V amendment convention.

Yeah, Walker has damaged the left grievously, but amnesty will be even better since it will enable him to damage us ALL. For YEARS to come.
They probably just plain forgot him. Not even a conscious decision.
Better than moving the US capital to flyover country would be to relocate the UN headquarters there.
Just imagine the dropoff in the UN’s popularity if it were no longer situated in NYC, but in Peoria.

The purpose of the Mt. Vernon meeting is to get all of the states on the same page how to control an Article V. process.
This is the only way left to restore our Constitution.
In related news I was contacted by Florida's Convention of States director. He asked if I'd be willing to serve as captain for state district 7. We'll see.

It is simply chilling and clearly shows the stupidity and recklessness of Governor Walker in how deeply he is supporting Amnesty.
Excellent letter! You can tell by the responses from the hard LEFTISTS to your letter, you scared the hell out of them. Listen to the enemy: they are giving away their hideouts.
Read the Article, while I think the 17th amendment should be repealed and States given back their ‘Ambassadors’ to the federal government.
But the proposal going forward is not about the 17th, it’s about “propose amendments to change various provisions of the Constitution” to quote the Indiana Senate Leader.
So unless the Convention of States limits itself to the 17th, I don’t support it. Don’t want to open that door under *any* guise and in no uncertain terms.
Would also like to see a rule ‘absolutely no outside lobbying by any group’.

Senator Long's idea is brilliant. It will be a pre-amendment convention, not unlike the first Mount Vernon convention of 1785. Returning delegates will inform their legislatures of the concerns of other states, and hopefully get all the states to agree to a common application to congress.
The first is from the American Legislative Exchange Council, a conservative pro-business group. This document has been sent to every state legislator in the country.

The second is a 1973 report from the American Bar Association attempting to identify gray areas in the amendatory process to include an Amendments Convention. It represents the view of the ruling class of 40 years ago. While I don't like some of their conclusions, they have laid out the precedents that may justify those conclusions. What I respect is the comprehensive job they did in locating all the gray areas. They went so far as to identify a gray area that didn't pop up until the Equal Rights Amendment crashed and burned a decade later. Even if you find yourself in disagreement with their vision, it's worth reading to see how the ruling class will try to dominate an Amendments Convention.

The pre-meeting rule setting is okay. I’ve no problem with that.
But if it isn’t set prior to the states convention that they will only address issues arising from the 17th amendment, then I simply won’t support it.
No, I’m thinking Hot Springs, Wayneseville or Cedar Rapids. Peoria is still too close to Chicago.
Repeal of the 17th is certainly fundamental.
The strength of Levin’s suggested amendments is they would result in a government more federal in design than the constitution of 1787.
Waynesville has a nice ring to it.
