New GOP strategy on ObamaCare: Let it burn
Hot Air ^ | November 21, 2013 | Ed Morrissey

Posted on 11/21/2013 7:38:13 AM PST by Hotlanta Mike

After the government shutdown over ObamaCare fizzled in mid-October, people wondered whether the GOP would try the same strategy again in early 2014 to force an end to the ACA. The Hill reports that the House and Senate Republican caucuses are now united in dumping that strategy. Instead, the GOP will simply allow ObamaCare to unfold as Democrats planned:

“What comes next”, a far better alternative will be the spoon full of sugar that helps the medicine go down.

It will need to be sold on TRUE, QUANTIFIABLE, and IMMEDIATE benefits. A system that CAN reduce costs, reduce wait times, KEEP your doctor, etc.

“Sit by and let the government hurt the people. When this thing gets repealed, another overreaching government program will replace it since insurance as we know it will no longer exist. Lead from behind. Where have we heard this strategy before?”

So Yoga, please tell us all just what you would have the “compassionate Republicans” do? Apart from Upton’s half-assed bill that’s going nowhere outside the House, just what can the GOP do? Do you really want the GOP to sign on to the Pig from LA’s bill to “help” the RATS? Inquiring minds want to know, because there is simply nothing that can be done to avert this disaster. There isn’t enough time to change the direction of the Battleship. It’s really going to hurt a lot of innocent people, but the die is cast. I just hope that the pain falls disproportionately on the idiots who voted for Obama so they could get some of this “free health insurance.”

“That is why 2014 needs to be an OBAMA REFERENDUM. The Impeachment Election. We get him out, we take over the Senate and then we can start to undo all of this damage.”

2014 is going to be a contest between enraged Americans who want their country back and moochers who want their Free-Government-Sh*t seized from those other guys. I wish I felt more confident about our side’s prospects in this contest.

Republicans need to keep any “plan” they have to a minimum and not follow in the footsteps of the dim train wreck.

Correct. The plan has to be a FREE MARKET policy.

I’m talking about not touching it in any way. Yes, you put “Helped” in quotes, so maybe I missed the import of that...but no “poking” it either or we’ll be blamed for everything.

Stealing those key elections is ALL they are focused on right now. Count on it.

but that would be quelled by the availability of new plans.

But these new plans are not lower cost and if they are, they have higher copays and a higher deductible. Also, doctors are bailing out of this system FAST.

Are you kidding?!?!

No I'm not although I agree with most of your post. Unfortunately the MSM owns the Ted Cruz Image. They have a virtual copyright on it. So Cruz will get less credit than he deserves as will Lee.

The people will, I believe, recognize that the House stood firmly on the Recall Principle while the Dems universally were against it. That is the key to 2014.

The Senate. With two notable exceptions I have no idea where they stand.

FREE MARKET - absolutely!

Free market for health care. That entails destroying the cartelization called “managed care”

Free market for health insurance. Competition for a greater variety of insurance, like catastrophic instead of “maintenance”

Underlying Obamacare is the tacit admission that government health plans (medicaid/care) are failures. They are bankrupt. They do not fully pay providers who then must “cost shift” to other payers: insurance companies. The federal government has caused HUGE distortions in the marketplace, they’ve effectively destroyed it. Their “solution” has been to expand their failed ideas: Obamacare.

Understood. But that is more than what is currently available. The uproar would not be as intense. The failure would not be so blatant.

They need to somehow shoot down Obama’s order to delay the employer mandate so people lose their insurance BEFORE the next round of elections. As it stands now, that shoe won’t drop until at least next October, and Obama will of course extend it another couple of months to get past the elections.

The pain will begin to be felt next OCTOBER when companies turn on Insurance Enrollment

If we won't challenge his first delay on that, then we'll have no way to stop him from issuing another delay next Summer.

The Senate. With two notable exceptions I have no idea where they stand.

The GOPe Senate RINOS did not cover themselves with glory when they busied themselves trashing Cruz and Lee. It may cost them the chance of taking the Senate back on '14, and there won't be another chance for several elections. They know this, and what's their response? Squeeze the Tea Party even tighter.

Here is the Sergio alternative to the ACA.
1. Allow insurance providers to sell policies nationwide, rather than in just one state.
2. Implement tort reform.
3. When dealing with non-life-threatening medical issues, patients must pay the first $250 of their yearly medical bills out of pocket.

I understand that Obamacare suffering does not affect only Democrats. It is unfortunate. Heap scorn upon those who voted for this, shame them.

No one is being used as a pawn. People are being hurt - BY DEMOCRATS. It is ENTIRELY theirs.

Offer no assistance. Appeasement is surrender.

If you want to eradicate Obamacare root and branch then you must destroy the idea. The seed, the idea, will grow back. The idea is socialism. Destroy the idea of socialism. Discredit it entirely.

We must salt the fields so that this poison seed can never grow again. Their suffering is that salt, the fields their hearts and minds.
