Kids don’t live in poverty, many stays with who don’t make the choices to provide for them a priority.

I would estimate that a most of them don’t get child support. The number of deadbeat dads is staggering. Of course, that’s the woman’s fault too for having a kid with a loser.

How about all those 30-somethings, deep in student loan debt with no job prospects, STILL living in their parents’ basements? How are they doin’? *SMIRK*

This next generation better wake the feck UP. It’s not looking good for them at all.

I don’t know how I feel about this... Birth control has been the responsibility of the woman since the late sixties. That’s 50 years ago.

If a man, other than in a committed relationship, were to father a child, why should he have any responsibility?

Careful, there are many single moms who divorced their husbands because of abuse.

And just whose problem is that? Who caused the problem? What is the solution other than more abortions?

Thats what it was meant to do...dads not needed. Females of the last 20 years are too stupid to know how to keep their knees together. When I was a a young female, only 1 gal in the group I knew got pregnant and she was sent to live with her grandmother and the baby was given up for adoption. Life went on for her in high school. Today women hold themselfs cheap. its sad they may have been taught self esteem, but not self respect..

What kills me is that with all the birth control and free abortions, we still have all this going on . ..in fact, it’s WORSE now than before.

Birth control, it seems, was created FOR MEN ...so that they could be absolved of their paternal responsibilities.

I really hope that someday women wake up and stop contracepting, start respecting themselves, and that men also begin to respect the sanctity of life and marriage.

But I think society will have to implode before it happens.

Our local school district has become almost 1/3 Hispanic and at least half from economically disadvantages homes. Thus, the school scores have now dropped from the 90’s to the 60’s in terms of graduation rates and test scores.

Soon will come falling real estate values and more crime, more trash, more decline . ..all traced to the decline of the traditional family.

But watch TV for more than 10 minutes and all you will see is glorification of single parenthood ... it’s the cool thing.

In PA a single mother with 4 kids would need a job earning $ 62,500 to equal the benefits she receives on the welfare train.

The effect of married fathers on child outcomes can be quite pronounced. For example, examination of families with the same race and same parental education shows that, when compared to intact married families, children from single-parent homes are:

More than twice as likely to be arrested for a juvenile crime;[20]
Twice as likely to be treated for emotional and behavioral problems;[21]
Roughly twice as likely to be suspended or expelled from school;[22] and
A third more likely to drop out before completing high school.[23]

Comparing families of the same race and similar incomes, children from broken and single-parent homes are three times more likely to end up in jail by the time they reach age 30 than are children raised in intact married families. [24] Compared to girls raised in similar married families, girls from single-parent homes are more than twice as likely to have a child without being married, thereby repeating the negative cycle for another generation.[25]

This happened because there’s no legal penalty or financial burden on the Vending Uteri for cranking out kids. Anyone can make one mistake — after that it’s more water in the soup.

You nailed it.

But some members of this board will be by to tell you how wonderful free trade is and that we just can’t import enough cheap labor.

They will also tell you if you don’t understand or agree with the above that you’re not really a conservative or very bright.

Me? I’m an American first.

And the vast majority of single moms are in that situation because they never learned to take responsibility for their own behavior and keep their knees together until they’re in circumstances where they can support and care for a child - and a vast number of responsible people who’ve learned to delay their own gratification and sacrifice until they can afford what they want are getting awfully tired of supporting those moms and their kids and of attempts to make them feel guilty and greedy if they object to being forced into what is essentially modern-day slavery - taking of their production to enrich others who have contributed nothing to the productive process......

I came of age in the sixties and 70s so know all about the sexual revolution hangover. There’s still a glorification of single motherhood by feminist elites. They make more money than the average young, uneducated single mother who is often repeating a cycle modeled for her by her own mother. So while their children may suffer from a fathers absence in other respects, they won’t be monetarily poor. There are also roll models in Hollywood, etc. for this sort of thing. And the followers will have a somewhat different reality than their roll models

How many of you have read the article about Mercy Academy in Kentucky? I saw this in the Everett Herald this morning so googled it and the Huffington Post covered it it in more detail. Anyway, the ads are discouraging girls from “waiting for the prince to come” , etc. and encouraging them to get an education, etc. I’m all for teaching the girls not to live in fantasy worlds, but I hope that they are t inadvertently sending anti-marriage, anti-family, even anti-men messages. I’d be more comfortable with it if I could be certain that they were t unwittingly putting down the girls who hope to be mothers and homemakers.
I know that a lot of people have been upset about the whole “princess” thing, too, but it seems to me a harmless enough thing that most little girls probably outgrow. If they didnt outgrow it by the time they were 10 or so, I’d probably take them aside and remind them that a lot of real life princesses, like Diana Spencer, weren’t very happy, but til then, why spoil the fun? Any mothers or grandmothers out there who deal with the princess obsession, if you disagree, let me know.
