Comet Ison destroyed in Sun passage
BBC World News ^ | Nov. 28 ,2013 | BBC

Comet Ison was severely battered in its encounter with the Sun, and largely destroyed.

Telescopes saw the giant ball of ice and dust disappear behind the star, but only a dull streamer emerge.

Astronomers continued to search for the object, but it eventually became clear that the much vaunted "Comet of the Century" had gone out with a whimper.

Despite its great size, Ison was probably torn apart in the immense heat and tidal forces so close to the Sun.

The comet has most likely disintegrated under the high heat and gravitational stress of the Sun on Nov. 28, 2013. It is not visible in Solar Dynamics Observatory footage and NASA scientists confirmed that they do not see it.

This is the most interesting part of this....SDO did not see the comet as it went through it perihelion...

It emerged and is doing okay....now the question is this; The SDO imaging is based on capturing and recognizing oxygen reactions. So if ISON is made of ice why did it not see it?

That is the question of the day if indeed the latest images confirm ISON survived.

Thats what I was thinking, maybe it just sort of got "cleaned" by the sun.

Later images seem to show more of it surviving!

Step one:
ISON goes around the sun, breaks up into more comets and heads straight toward Earth.

Step two: ?

Step three: Zombies.
