A Pro-abortion Catholic is the finest example, ever, of an oxymoron.

The Catholic Church can not stop anyone who favors abortion from identifying themselves as Catholic, but all informed Catholics know that such an individual is excommunicated from the Church (which ain’t no denomination, btw, except in the minds of the variety of those protesting the Church).

It is a rub that these people identifying as Catholic are so easily able to pull this masquerade of theirs off, but only with the help of an ignorant, Godless media and ignorant observers, who naturally know little to nothing about the tenets of the Catholic faith, and others who may well know the truth but who will keep silent and simply rejoice in giving the Church another black eye.

The same can be said of priests, bishops and religious, for example, who recently decided to be protestant to the Church, by giving Holy Communion to all divorced remarrieds, in Germany, I believe. Denied annulments, or never seeking one at all, these individuals elected to remarry without standing, and then demand the Sacrament, as if they were in a proper state of Grace. Relieved from any accountability, and subjected to no call to obedience whatsoever is hardly Catholic.

These actions defy the faith and are full blown protestant, so why they don’t officially go BE one, I am sure I don’t know.

Is her soul still sold out for Obama? Does she still support killing of the unborn? Does she still support homo “marriage?”

If “yes” to any of those question, then what God does she serve?

lol

Articles like this always make me smirk. Some Christians are so enamored by the idea of bringing a celebrity on board, they don’t care if its all pretty shallow.

The same way some conservatives are insanely happy when a celebutard says they are a “Republican”. Which, of course, does not mean they are anywhere near conservative.

She sounds like a nice person. I would probably like her if I got to know her personally. I like a lot of liberals for qualities other than politics. Nothing has changed here, though. Her political ideology is a stain. If she’d rethink that, then I’d take a new look at her as a voice of reason.

I am glad that she has found Christianity, but as long as she continues to view big government intrusion as the solution on any level and social experimentation as beneficial to our society, I will continue to tune her out. Liberals in any form are a threat to my country.

Get real, it is normal for Catholics to vote pro-abortion democrat, and it is normal for the nation’s greatest and most powerful, and highest profile Catholic politicians to be pro-choice Catholics.

The majority of protestants vote against the democrats, and the conservative Protestant denominations do so at rates of about 75 and 80%.

The majority vote of the Catholic denomination is always predictable, for instance Clinton, Clinton, Gore, Obama, Obama.
Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden just took Communion at the Vatican, and met personally with their Pope.

This is what is normal.

Lets not be subtle. Birth control is abortion that is a smaller abortive event to the mind’s eye, and it is A-okay in the West, but snuffs out life as surely as the evil Goslen.

Their are plenty of “Catholics” and Protestants who abhor one method but will justify the other, on purely false grounds. God has condemned those who take innocent life, and how messy or unassuming the method was never in the equation.

This kind of lie makes man his own God, in his own image, electing to permit or deny life. Catholics may not do this, or support this and remain in communion with the Church. They are self excommunicated, even when in secret and unknown, it matters not; they are excommunicated on their own volition.

Well, God bless her, and I hope she comes to understand that big government, no matter how it is arrived at, is the greatest evil inflicted on mankind.

You say, I say.

You want to play the game—I see. If liars lie, and you like the lie, you want the practicing Catholics to dump the truth and “get real” by saying ex-Catholics are Catholic—especially if ansel has seen it in print somewhere in the dependable media crafting.

Those voters you puff against are not Catholic but obviously protestant of the Church, except in your own mind and theirs. To “get real” is to get the truth.

I get the point, you are not intellectually curious of the facts of Church faith and practice. Your job is to not know but to speak anyway. chuckle.

Wow, that is pretty freaky, but of course they are Catholics.

They are baptized Catholic, are members of the Catholic denomination, and they call themselves Catholics.

When Nancy Pelosi meets her Pope in Rome, and takes Communion at the Vatican, she does it as a Catholic. Your disapproval of the majority of Catholics, does not make them non-Catholics.

I remember thinking it was wonderful a few years back when Jane Fonda had become a Christian.

I hope Kirsten’s conversion is real, along the lines of the gal the left used and tossed....I think her name is Norma (Roe) who ushered in legal killing of the unborn.

...."It’s a Protestant country that made abortion legal. Too many Catholics act like Protestants. Protestants are simply not really pro-life."....

I let this go about 3 times already, but that statement is just to ridiculous to let go by. I don't know ANY Protestants that aren't pro life,....no, not one.

And as far as the Prots making abortion legal, that's just an out and out LIE! The whole Silent Majority movement was Protestant based. There are many prots that will say "Lord Lord" in the last day, but Jesus doesn't know them and I'm sure many Catholics will be in the same line.

To blame Prots for all this mess is just crazy, and BTW, the new Pope is having some translation problems on almost every subject these days.

As far as Ms. Powers goes, we all started somewhere and she is just getting started. It will take some time and Bible reading to get her straightened out. Let's just pray for her that she has a good teacher and the evil one doesn't take her back. Any Christian knows the devil isn't happy when he loses one and he usually comes back hard. She will be getting enough grief from him and doesn't need it from other Christians. If she is truly saved, the Holy Spirit will teach her and keep her. One saved can never be pried from God's hand. We all trip and fall, but with His help, we get back up.

I look at non saved people as insane. Once you are saved, your mind is renewed and you see the Truth where you were blind before. At some point, she won't be able to justify any abortion,... ever, and will see the abomination sodomy really is. I once told a lefty, "Just think of the smell that is left on the sheet when men get through wiping feces all over themselves." Apparently he had never thought of exactly what homo's do for sex and he was repulsed. He changed his mind when he realized just how nasty and diseased ridden they really are. He didn't know about fisting, or Crisco, or any of that. He just thought they "loved" each other. Many of these liberal "Christians" have never figured out that John Wayne Gacey was gay or Dahmer, or any one of 50 other serial murderer's. No one explained to them that they killed their victims after having anal sex with them to keep them from talking. They are filthy dangerous abominations, yet most families have one or two hidden around somewhere to make them seem almost acceptable now. Who really wants to condemn ole uncle Bruce after all. Then one day SWAT shows up and we find out he raped a child and everyone says, "He was quiet and kept to himself." God says they are an abomination so who am I to argue with God. Fornication is sin, but I wonder if Ms. Powers has given it up. Does she still admire Clinton now that God has told her adultery is a no no? All these things will be piling on her daily and she will have to square her new found faith with what she has believed all her life. Her friends and family will also be in the "You've gone crazy" crowd.

I like it, I'm impressed, and I'm hopeful and will be praying for her. If she doesn't make it, well, that's up to God, not me. Remember Jane Fonda's conversion? How about Larry Flint? It's tough out there for New Christians after 30. They usually don't make it.

I do remember George Wallace though, and it was real and permanent into his old age. It can happen. Nothing is too hard for God.

And you are NOT able to approve of abortion in these instances of rape, incest, severe deformity or ‘a direct threat to the life of the mother’? Not even in these cases?

I'm not vlad, but I can settle these issues for you quickly. Go find a rape baby or a deformed baby when they are 21 years old and ask them if they wish they were aborted. I have found NONE that wish they were dead, not one! What crime has the rape child committed that they should get a death sentence? What court has rendered a verdict of guilty and for what crime? In America, the death sentence can only be given under a CRIMINAL court for a felony crime of murder or treason, and is under a jury of their peers. How can a doctor or mother pass sentence on another human being without guilt being proven? If I gave a DNA sample of an aborted baby to the police, they would find that it is human, once alive and is now dead. If you can make a baby into something less than human, then the government can declare seniors not human and dispose of them also. It isn't a stretch to make Jews less than human or black men and women less than human. All I have to do is get you deemed not human, and you are toast. This was the break in the law in Roe. To pretend the baby wasn't a human baby made it ineligible to the Bill of Rights. When you do that, you can do whatever you want to people you don't like. When a mom get's pregnant and decides she doesn't want the baby, no matter what the reason, who is she to decide life or death? If a man gets married and decides his new wife doesn't make his eggs the way he likes them, why not abort instead of all that estate spitting and child support nonsense? I'm willing to bet there are some in this administration that don't like you if you post on FR. That may be all they need to stop your cancer treatment under Obamacare. Abortion by any other name,......

I've heard every excuse in the book for abortion and it all gets back to making life and death judgements about other PEOPLE. A baby is a person, it's not property to be disposed of. We can't decide for it that not having legs makes it too pitiful to live. I have CP in my family and they love life and want to live and have never known anything but a hard life. It's their life, not mine, and I don't have the right to feel they don't deserve to live.

It's a tough thing for a woman to carry a baby to term that was raped, but the baby is innocent and had nothing to do with the crime. That's why we have adoption.

Thank you for taking the time to respond. This is one of those questions that does not have a single answer. No matter what is decided, someone will disagree. I can only think of the Thalidomide babies who are a few years younger than I am. Or the lesser known Harlequin babies. I’m not a parent and probably wont ever be one, so there many be certain points of view that would not be my first choice, but I listen, and try to respect the choice of others.
