If it wasn’t for a lot of people losing their jobs, the demise of fast-food joints would be a good thing considering that more than 1/3 of adults in the US are obese.

is there any business in the world that is needed less than fast food joints?
not only will people run fast the other way from any price hikes, but since they don’t take food stamps, even the people who live off other people’s money and usually don’t care how they spend it, wont be going there either.
there’s two types of people involved. the Marxists, who are doing it on purpose, and the retards who really think people will pay double for a horrible cheeseburger.

That’s what I’m thinking. If min wage goes through the roof expect to see more automation replacing min wage/unskilled workers. At what hourly wage does a burger flipping machine break even? The machine will probably do a better job too.

No spit from the machine in the food. That’s for sure.

Well, that is easily fixed. Just pass a law mandating these businesses operate at a loss.

The poor, unemployed, “victimized”, and poorly educated tend to vote for Democrats. Also government workers and lawyers who thrive on division (class and race), conflict and more laws.
Doesn’t that explain Democrat policies, which serve to increase their electorate?

Republicans continue to remain silent on all of this.

It's because most of them are millionaires and know restaurant workers work harder than politicians do. They are probably looking for their votes anyway, so they just smile for the cameras and keep their mouths shut.

Some recent automation where I work replaced four people and one of the mechanics said the change had already paid for itself.

Robots don’t argue or get distracted or try to use their cell phone during business hours or get sick or walk off the job ...

$15 an hour for fast food? My husband took a huge cut in pay in order to go permanent with a company that he was working for through a temp agency and that was with 15 years experience. He’s making less than $20 an hour and these people want $15? We don’t eat much “fast food” as it is, this happens, we will never eat it.

And attach a rider to that law stating that all democrats must forfeit 25% of their personal net worth and their campaign funds to the federal coffers in any year the national debt rises.

Business owners need to change up the argument and say “It’s not that the people aren’t worth $15 an hour, it’s that the job itself is only worthy of a $7.25 an hour salary.”

(or whatever the local minimum wage is for their area)

yes.
increasing the minimum wage automatically results less jobs and greater unemployment

since we have a minimum wage, a reasonable argument can be made that it should be temporarily lowered during the Obama Great Recession, to allow for more jobs.

any increase in a minimum wage should logically be during UP economic cycles, when there is not a jobs shortage

and obviously, any increase should be “reasonable” ... incremental ... say maybe fifty cents maybe at a time, so as to not shock the economy back into recession

a quick doubling of the minimum wage would shock even a good economy downwards again, due to the massive job losses it would cause. you can’t keep a good economy going if you create millions of more unemployed folks on the dole.

In any event it doesn't mean fast food workers not out striking aren't sympathetic with the strikers. There'll be no fast food for my family tomorrow for sure (don't want or need special garnishes on my hamburger).

These are jobs that used to be held by teenagers - and were never meant to be full time or high paid jobs. Obamanomics has put people with Masters Degrees on cooking and cashier lines which is the crux of the problem.

“Walk off the job and don’t bother showing up the next day.”

And who the hell will ever want to hire them again? Listening to union bosses didn’t turn out too well for workers in Detroit. I doubt it will turn out well for these workers either. Idiots!

“...but Bob Beckel on the Five was saying that some study by economists proved that there is no correlation between the an increase in the minimum wage and unemployment.”

I’m at a loss to find where the fedgov received the power to dictate wages paid by employers

they have no such authority under the Constitution... as their domain is interstate commerce... we’ve just been going along with it for decades

I am thinking that is the plan.
