Sarah Palin spoke at Liberty University Thursday to promote her new book Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.
During her discussion the former governor blamed angry atheists for “trying to abort Christ for Christmas.”

The Raw Story reported:

If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, Sarah Palin said, he would probably go on Fox News to complain about the war on Christmas.

The former half-term governor of Alaska and failed vice presidential candidate appeared Thursday at Liberty University to promote her new book Good Tidings and Great Joy: Protecting the Heart of Christmas.

She told the audience of students that the U.S. Constitution was written by and for moral and religious people, and that nonreligious people probably were incapable of appreciating its principles.

“If you lose that foundation, John Adams was implicitly warning us, then we will not follow our constitution, there will be no reason to follow our constitution because it is a moral and religious people who understand that there is something greater than self, we are to live selflessly, and we are to be held accountable by our creator, so that is what our constitution is based on, so those revisionists, those in the lamestream media, especially, who would want to ignore what our founders actually thought, felt and wrote about in our charters of liberty – well, that’s why I call them the lamestream media,” Palin said…

…Palin said Jefferson would likely agree that secularists had set their sights on destroying the religious themes in Christmas celebrations.

“He would recognize those who would want to try to ignore that Jesus is the reason for the season, those who would want to try to abort Christ from Christmas,” she said. “He would recognize that, for the most part, these are angry atheists armed with an attorney. They are not the majority of Americans.”

“I’m asking why NON Christians celebrate Christmas.”

It appears to me that most of that Christmas “observance,” or celebration, has to do with Santa Claus, pretty lights, special seasonal foods, parties, and gift exchanges, the delight of children with all such stuff, but very little to do with the birth of the Christ Child, who and what He is, the purpose of God, the Father in sending Him among us, et cetera.

Sarah Palin has actually gone on to bigger and more important things than Governor of Alaska. She left the job in good hands and stepped off at the right time. Heck just introducing Ted Cruz to the world is bigger than a term of governor

I agree, I just cant stand it when I read an article and they call her a “Half Term Governor” or a “Failed Candidate” pisses me off SO Much..you never hear anyone refer to Mitt Romney as a “Failed candidate” or Paul Ryan as a “Failed candidate” but that is how they refer to Palin and it makes me mad..liberals just can’t stand that Sarah has been right about Obama from the very beginning, they hate the fact that she was right

Correct.

but very little to do with the birth of the Christ Child, who and what He is, the purpose of God, the Father in sending Him among us, et cetera.

That's it exactly. My enjoyment & celebration of Christmas has virtually nothing to do its religious aspects. It's worth noting that Christmas has become increasingly popular in Japan over the last 40 years, and is an entirely commercial event.

Santa Clausmas, if you will. This is also much more the case in the United States today as compared to a few generations ago.

Those liberals are terrified of sarah palin because we recognize her as a great woman and they fear her as a candidate who might defeat their candidate in a landslide.
They fear her more than any of the others. The word is out to destroy her.

Many atheists are not very “inclusive, tolerant, and accepting.”

Wait until the muzzlems take over and put guns to their skulls to show them allah loves them.

There are two Christmas days. The Eastern Christians celebrate the actual Christian day(Jan 7) and the Western Christians changed it to the winter solstice(Dec 25) to make the religion more appealing to the pagans who they wanted to convert to Christianity.

And Sarah Palin is wrong. Atheists(non-believers) have never been a threat to Christianity or Christmas.

Heretics have always been the threat that the church has attacked.

And a subset of the heretics are the gnostics who "know"(gnosis) their god without the help of a church, which is why the gnostic gospels were written out of the bible in the 3rd century.

The real threat to Christmas is commercialization.

I already know the mis-info campaign. Most people don't see separation as a threat to Christianity or Christmas.

But if it helps to make you feel like a victim, go ahead.

Would you like for me to pour a little(or a lot) of Jim Beam into your eggnog?

In the spirit of Christmas, buy multiple copies of Sarah's book for gifts, so that she can have a very nice Christmas.

And I prefer rum in my eggnog.

Sarah is commercializing Christmas. She wrote the book to make money off of people like you. Now go out and buy the book. If you don't, it will mean that you are less of a Christian and care less about Christmas.

My, aren’t you a sweet guy. You keep FR interesting. And I won’t buy her book. I’ll just ask for it for Christmas. I did by her Going Rouge, though. She is an amazing woman. And I think buying gifts for others is sweet. I enjoy it.

Going Rouge?

I'm with you. I always thought Palin wore too much make-up.

My mother and 4 older sisters trained me to think that women who wear a lot of make-up(like Palin) are sluts.

Too bad your mom was so judgmental. Sarah is a beautiful woman with or without makeup, inside and out.

Um, I believe you ignore the obvious.

Our modern atheists are idolaters of a melange of materialism and intellect and are striving to spread that “gospel.” And because more and more Christians of still-mushy spiritual stamina yield to this siren song, they are intimidated into dampening down Christian observations.

The result if this is allowed to succeed will be a very, very sad world. True enough, over-commercialization of Christmas is a hazard, but as it is based on free choice and because it is not a fundamental wrong to purchase gifts for Christmas, it can be more easily self correcting. It is a sin of degree, of overdoing an aspect of celebration, rather than a sin in the absolute. The atheist gospel is a sin in the absolute.

The Cathers weren't atheists. The inquisition wasn't directed at atheists.

As you say, "If this is allowed to succeed.......

Not knowing who is and who isn't, then your only option to stop it from succeeding is to "kill them all and let God sort them out"
