News flash: You’re now allowed to kill bald eagles, but only if the people who care more about the earth’s inhabitants than you do consider your purpose just.

We’re used to end of the week document dumps, but this is more like a Friday eagle drop:

The Obama administration said Friday it will allow some companies to kill or injure bald and golden eagles for up to 30 years without penalty, an effort to spur development and investment in green energy while balancing its environmental consequences.

The change, requested by the wind energy industry, will provide legal protection for the lifespan of wind farms and other projects for which companies obtain a permit and make efforts to avoid killing the birds.
[...]
Under the change announced Friday, companies would have to commit to take additional measures if they kill or injure more eagles than they have estimated they would, or if new information suggests that eagle populations are being affected. The permits would be reviewed every five years, and companies would have to submit reports of how many eagles they kill. Now such reporting is voluntarily, and the Interior Department refuses to release the information.

So desperate has the administration become to keep perpetuating the “green” sham that eagle sacrifice has now been approved. Meanwhile, if you accidentally kill a spotted owl after chopping down a tree, you can still go to jail (a year for the owl, six months more for the tree, and three additional if it fell on a snail). Unless of course you can convince the administration you did it in order to put up a wind turbine that somehow benefited a favored campaign donor.

Before long it might be legal to dispose of batteries by dumping them in the river, but only if the batteries came from electric cars. Anything to save the planet.

I wonder if Duke Energy will receive a refund of the $1 million fine it agreed to pay last month for killing eagles at a wind farm.

Just “how” will Obama “allow” this? Is there a Federal Statute on killing eagles or not? Did he do this by Executive Order to the Department of Justice? They won’t ‘prosecute’ these crimes for 30 years (or the wind turbine’s lifetime)? Or is it all just one big stick pulled out of his ass.

The point to this is that his Executive Order could be rescinded by the next President - I certainly hope so. Further, if they’re truly just ignoring the law, perhaps a true next President could appoint a special prosecutor to indict complicit DoJ personnel for conspiracy and collusion to subvert Federal Statutes.

Pocket change, and probably went to the “Obama destroys America” campaign fund

I'd like to thank the United States Government for protecting me and my kind.

You see, 40 years ago, my odds of making it out of the egg, alive, were very poor; about 80% of us died.

But a lady discovered our plight and wrote a book that addressed our problem,
and, in 1972, a law was ammended protecting us even further. (http://www.fws.gov/midwest/eagle/protect/laws.html)

What I find strange is that the same government passed a law the very next year that allowed for killing
of unborn, and apparently unwanted, humans.  Little ones still nestled safely in their Mother's womb.
Around 25% of them are dying before birth - on average nearly 3,300 - every day of the year.

I hear that by now, somewhere around 55 MILLION of them have perished.
Wouldn't that kind of mess up the humans plans for growth, and welfare, and
retirement?

Strange birds; these Homo Sapiens.  Perhaps they'll come to their senses
before they are ALL dead!

First the Government is admitting that the lifespan of the windmills is 30 years. Personally I don’t believe they will last that long and then only with a great cost in maintenance, but I won’t argue the point.

After 30 years the cost of putting these things up will have to be spent to replace them. Well Maybe by then America will be building them and not buying them from the Chinese. Or maybe by then the Chinese will have foreclose on the United States and we will all be Chinese.

South Point, Big Island, HI

South Point is the Actual Southernmost Point in the USA (Not Key West, Sorry!) It is Designated Hawaiian Homeland, Home of Many Endangered Birds, and the location of the Unique Olivine Green Sand Beach. It is also host to acres of abandoned, greasy, ugly, rusting, bird-choppers like these.

So is the plan to have windmills 30 years from now with rubber blades to protect the eagles?

In truth, there is no plan. This is just one more of those issues that liberals push out of view and ignore.

Because I lack the ability to embrace mutually incompatible positions I'll never be able to be a liberal.

Results matter. Truth matters.

Can the President, by executive order, circumvent Federal legislation? Would that not make him a legislator?

What are the names of those companies and where are they located? Guess some “visits” are in order.
