Obama has shown how a future GOP president can gut Obamacare
Washington Examiner ^ | December 5, 2013 | PHILIP KLEIN

Having watched President Obama and Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius over the past several months unilaterally alter or outright ignore major portions of the law, I now believe that a future Republican president would have greater latitude to gut Obamacare than I once thought possible.

Obama has turned his signature legislative accomplishment into a constantly evolving wikilaw, with editing privileges restricted to himself and a few administration officials.

As businesses barked about the requirement that they provide qualifying health insurance or pay a fine, Obama decided not enforce the law’s employer mandate in 2014, even though the law explicitly states that’s when it’s supposed to kick in.

As technological problems mounted, HHS delayed the implementation of some income verification requirements for those applying for federal health insurance subsidies, without delaying the subsidies.

When Big Labor griped about a “reinsurance fee” that would be imposed on some union health care plans, HHS simply redefined the universe of health plans subject to the fee so that it excluded unions — forcing others to provide the lost revenue.

In the face of a public backlash over millions of Americans having their health insurance policies cancelled despite the president’s repeated assurances that it wouldn’t happen, Obama announced that he simply wouldn’t enforce the requirements on insurance policies that are clearly spelled out in the law.

In pursuing all of these desperate measures, Obama seems to have lost sight of the fact that Republican presidents have lawyers, too.

Since Obama has proven that Democrats are OK with giving out exemptions and delays to Obamacare for certain people without approval from Congress, what's to prevent a Republican President from giving out permanent exemptions and delays to everyone for all of Obamacare?

It would be easy enough for a Republican President to reverse all the things that Obama did illegally and/or the enacted Executive Orders.

Keep in mind that Executive Orders can only be continued into another administration if the new President explicitly issues an Executive Order to continue it.

Philip Klein, I am tired of chaos I am tired of a lawless government. I want a government restrained by the Constitution. I want my country back, not some endless tit-for-tat game.

Only a Republican president with the courage to take on Obama’s policies. A liberal Republican president would be busy trying to accommodate the left to undo Obamacare.

RE: “I now believe that a future Republican president would have greater latitude to gut Obamacare.”

I disagree.

The MSM, the Democrat Party, and the federal judiciary would leap at his throat like a starving mountain lion.

Then, Newt Gingrich, the GOP elite, RINO congressmen, and RINO political pundits would be on every Hard Left news program in America denouncing our “lawless” Republican president.

A Republican president would buckle in 24 hours, and he would enforce every part of ObamaCare with more passion than Obama himself.

A GOP president could do no such thing.

He’d be a GOP president. Republicans are held accountable to the law. The media, fueled with images of thousands of protesting poor would not allow any administrative roll back. A rash of lawsuits would flood the court and Obama appointed judges would rush to strike down any such GOP presidential over reach. RINOs would flock to burnish their bipartisan bona fides by attacking the president of their own party for such a thing. Democrats don’t believe in the rule of law and therefore don’t need to live up to it.

If the country’s on a single-payer system in 3yrs, when 0liar leaves office, the insurance industry’s destroyed and gone, medical personnel have left, many hospitals and clincs closed, manufacturing R&D all but closed-down, pharmaceuticals reduced to ‘red’ and ‘blue’ pills, what happens when a Conservative President reverses 0bummerCare?

How do we ramp-up a non-existent, once-great, complex, interlocking medical system, essentially destroyed from top to bottom?

Just wondering how many decades it would take, and what kind of interim system could be put in place to save as many people as possible.

I have several nurses and dr’s in the immediate and extended family, and they say it would take decades or generations to put all the complex pieces back together again into a smooth-functioning system.

It could be the inverse of the 30 years of open hunting on eagles that Obama just granted to windmill cronies.

A 30-year delay on Obamacare implementation could be a life-saving innovation.

I think it must be true.

I watched a documentary a couple of years back...I think it was on Jamaica, the IMF and such (all very fuzzy).

Anyhow, with all this free trade stuff and how larger countries could subsidize, it caused their businesses to shutter—they couldn’t compete.

There was a milk farmer, been in the family for ages and he was having to pour out his milk and they were going to sell everything.

He talked about what you are talking about—the time to rebuild, it won’t just come back. He said that the cheap prices that were on the imports wouldn’t stay cheap forever (powdered milk)—that the prices would go up but that their farms would be gone and they wouldn’t be coming back.

It was a big domino effect for them, their country had tons of debt and there were so many obstacles for them to try and overcome and climb out of debt. It really was a vicious cycle.

I don’t think I was very clear about the milk—I think it was us sending in cheap powdered milk and their farmers couldn’t compete with our subsidized milk farmers prices.

“Democrats don’t believe in the rule of law and therefore don’t need to live up to it.”

That is the absolute truth of it.

And as George Will pointed out that the next GOP POTUS can just not enforce any law they want, like tax laws.

They can temporarily eliminate entire taxes with an order.

This tells me that Kennedy was killed by an inside job—CIA—NSA or LBJ but inside. If that was not so how come Obama is still alive? How come people haven’t taken shots at him (even if the miss). Obama is hated by at least 50% of the people—Kennedy was popular. I know we haven’t improved security that much and Obama travels all over for fundraisers and talks? Not don’t get me wrong—The last thing I want to see is an assassination. I don’t want them turning Obama into a Tin Saint like they did Kennedy. I don’t want three weeks of mourning—or books like “Obama we hardley Knew Ye” —I want to see him exposed and legally investigated! If he has done anything wrong—I want him to stand trial for it.
