Cancer patient: I'm devastated over Obamacare
CNBC ^ | December 11, 2013 | Joan Carrico, registered nurse

Posted on 12/11/2013 12:12:55 PM PST by grundle

Joan Carrico, a 60-year old registered nurse who has been fighting cancer for the past six years, shared her her Obamacare experience with CNBC.com in November. She liked her insurance policy but unexpectedly received a cancellation notice with the implementation of the Affordable Care Act despite the president's assurances that "If you like your plan you can keep it." And, like many others, she had trouble logging on to the HealthCare.gov wesite. Since then, the president has granted a one-year extension for those who received cancellation notices and the website has improved — but there's still a lot to sort out. Carrico shares an update of what's happened since then.

I had a lot of trouble early on. I didn't expect my insurance to be canceled, had numerous problems getting onto Healthcare.gov and gave up on the website. Since then, I have received assistance from an agent and a Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan representative. I have been stressed and scrambling to find an affordable policy that will ensure that I keep my doctors, chemotherapy drugs, etc. that are literally keeping me alive.

Over six years ago, I was in a position where I needed to choose an individual health-insurance policy. After much research I chose a Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO that I anticipated would be short term. My plan was to return to work as a registered nurse and be eligible for a group policy. But, for the first time in my life, I got really sick. I've been battling cancer and fighting for my life for the last six years. So much for my plans. I thank God that I am alive and am eternally grateful to Blue Cross Blue Shield and all my doctors, especially my doctors at University of Michigan

The fact that this regime wants to penalize health organizations like St. Jude Children's Research Hospital should be more than enough to cause people to want to march on DC.

But fear not, the people won't, and St. Jude will become unable to provide cancer treatment for those children who desperately need it.

Sad as it is, I quietly have to ask: did the nurse vote for Obama?

If she did, (and I expect that she did,) all I can say is, “I’m so sorry, but we tried to warn you.”

One by one these sad stories will be told, until Americans wake up and realize what they’ve done.

Oh dear, poor Joan. On top of everything else, now she’s going to get audited by the IRS.

MD Anderson Among Top Hospitals Excluded From Obamacare Coverage [UPDATED]
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3100749/posts

Just recently, the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center was announced as one of an elite group of six cancer research and treatment centers throughout the world who will participate in an ongoing collaborative effort to fast-track the advancement of cancer treatment development as part of a new GlaxoSmithKline initiative. It is just one in a series of many examples of how MD Anderson is the preeminent cancer research and treatment center in the United States, if not the world.

According to a new report in the Financial Times, new healthcare plans are being nudged by the statutes of the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as Obamacare, so that they will exclude in-network coverage for patients to visit top cancer hospitals for advanced therapy — including MD Anderson — when the plans go into full effect next year.

In one to two years, maybe even less, we will go from stories of utter financial devastation and loss of homes and fortunes, to stories of untimely deaths and funerals, total devastation of families, lawsuits, and general wailing and gnashing of teeth.

The sad stories are only beginning.

In civil law, there’s an area called “tortious interference with business relations.” It means that it is an offence, correctable by a monetary judgement and possibly an injunction to change behavior, to interfere with an existing business relationship.

How does this relate to Obamacare? If you’ve been regularly paying your insurance policy, there’s an implicit relationship between you and the insurance company that extends past the yearly renewal. If you’ve been healthy and paying, you don’t expect the insurance company to kick you out and prevent you from renewing if you get sick sometime during the year. This occasionally does occur, and Obama demagogued these instances for all he could.

What is happening with Obamacare is that he has broken ALL existing ongoing relationships between people and their insurance companies—exactly what he was campaigning against. The people whose policies have been vaporized just when they need it have been victimized by the government, who has broken their existing relationships. The person with cancer in this article is just one of many who have the same problem.

If this event did not occur because of government action—an existing business relation was broken arbitrarily—there’d most likely be a cause of action. But, suing the government is virtually impossible.

Part of the plan, or another unforeseen consequence? You decide.

He should be charged with murder and impeached. His “health” plan is DELIBERATELY murdering Americans.

Since then, the president has granted a one-year extension for those who received cancellation notices...

And by what authority is the President able to alter the rule of law?

The writer, like the President, thinks the law is whatever Obama says it is.

He didn’t really grant a one year extension, that’s up to the states and the individual insurance companies, many of which are unable to reverse the cancellations. He stalled in addressing the issue until past the time when it would have done any good, then passed the buck once he knew it wasn’t going to have any substantive effect.

The best thing you can do is to just boycott the entire health care system. If you participate, you condone.

Don't sign up. Tear up your Medicare card. Get the government out of health care!!

I ask myself the same question whenever these stories surface.

I agree. Obamacare instantly (and illegally) made a vast swath of lawful business contracts null and void.

There is no legal authority, but he is doing it, anyway and his minions and supporters are screaming at him to go fill-blown dictator, ASAP.

De facto, the law is whatever the Dictator decrees just because the inculcated, the low-information and the cronies at both ends of the economic spectrum demand it. IOW, we now have the very *democracy* the Republic aimed to thwart. We have also lost the truly democratic voting system of “one man/one vote”, as the bots vote as many times as possible and even non-citizens vote without repercussions.

I can't speak for this nurse, but I can assure you that Jim Hoft ("The Gateway Pundit") did NOT vote for Obama, and probably not for any Democrat.

Jim's a great guy, one of the co-producers of the "Hating Breitbart" video, and a good solid conservative. Jim became ill in August and has a similar story related to losing his health insurance. (You can read it on "The Gateway Pundit" today.)

Yep, you think you’re “devastated” now, just wait for your audit!

Some day, one of these people will consider that they have nothing left to lose and will go Bowman on a gov’t agent/agency.

Man, if this isn’t the truth. It’s just the same ole chit re-packaged ala 2013, like a virus that goes underground, only to resurface again as a more virulent strain.
