Exactly. Putin wants to restore the old Eastern Bloc with Russian domination of all the breakaway republics plus Eastern Europe. The Russians can do this through subversion. The strategy is to empower the pro-Russian population through election fraud, bribery, assassination, sabotage, labor strikes and riots, and inciting conflicts between ethnic and religious groups. And they can use military force as they did in Georgia justifying the incursion by claiming they were protecting oppressed ethnic Russians living in Georgia. Hitler did this in Czechoslovakia and Poland, etc. The optimum time to accomplish Putin's goals would be the remainder of Obama’s term. After 2016 a U.S. hardliner could be in office.
