Numbers of public sector unions in Wisconsin collapsed in the wake of an historic vote that ended on Thursday. The unions are acutely feeling the impact of Act 10, Governor Scott Walkers controversy-generating collective bargaining reforms of 2011. The reforms require public sector unions to hold annual recertification votes. In order to be certified as unions by the state, the labor groups must get the approval of over 50% of their members.
For several weeks now the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission has been holding an open and ongoing vote for over 400 unions, mostly made up of public school teachers and support staff. The result of each unions election was made public late Thursday afternoon. What emerged was not a pretty picture for the states public sector labor movement.
According to a preliminary count, a total of over 5,500 union members have walked away from a labor union in this round of recertification elections.
In Milwaukee, home of the states largest and most powerful education union, an entire unit of substitute teachers failed to recertify. Its a harsh blow for labor in the heart of a city known for its long, colorful and at times controversial association with American labor movements.
The vote in Milwaukee wasnt even close. Of the 320 members of the Milwaukee Teachers Education Associations substitute teacher unit, only 128 voted to recertify as a union.
...
In Dane County, the bastion of anti-Walker sentiment and home to the states capital city, two AFSCME-affiliated units servicing food service, maintenance and transportation employees failed to recertify.

Walker might make a great p[resident. He’s got some stones.
I think the media will make it Christie.
Hmmm...so many alternative titles here. First thought: “Dawn Breaks Over Marblehead.” Next thought: “Captain Obvious Is Obvious.”
Well, accountability and responsiveness to the rank and file has traditionally never been a big priority for unions, so you would have expect they will be a bit slow on the uptake.
Too bad people are finding out how much better life is without the the union.
It takes a little while and Michigan is a year behind Wisconsin but I’m sure enjoying watching the unions scramble and fight among themselves as they sense their doom.
Racketimg=racketeering

Leftist extremists love to use force. The ultimate measure of Marxist dictators is mass murder. Thus far, Mao is out in front.
Great news...
People don’t want unions taking their money and giving it to Rats.

Christie doesn’t have a snowballs chance in hell.
If the ObamaCare scam survives and amnesty is passed, the only union left in this country will be the SEIU. All of the others will have been destroyed and devoured by the SEIU. JMO.
The media support will prevail.
I can afford a small wager.
Not only does he have stones and would make a great president, the public sector unions lie at the heart of many of the crap that needs fixing.
I strongly agree. But he’s got almost no buzz while hills and Krispy are media poster children
All the way to being the GOP nominee? Go 50
