NYC bans e-cigarettes in indoor public places because they look too much like cigarettes (bloomberg)
Hotair ^

Are they banning them because e-cigs are dangerous? Nope, not really. No one’s reached any firm conclusion that they’re harmful and pretty much everyone agrees that they’re less harmful than real cigarettes.

No, the reason public “vaping” needed to be banned is that it simply looks too much like smoking.

If I’m ever put in charge I’m going to ban STUPIDITY. Hell, I may make it a capital offense to be stupid in public if you’re an elected official.

If you do that, practically all of our government would be dead. :-)

It was done because it helps people quit paying cigarette taxes.

Well I don’t see the logic in that since people still can not smoke regular cigs in any of those places. People will continue to use the e cigs and just not use them in places where they are banned.
They most likely waiting for the FDA to say the e cigs are harmful and then they will be able to tax the hell out of them for social programs.

Words cannot really express the magnitude of his idiocy. Even the incoming DiBlasio has more sense I bet.

Although cigarettes are banned, in many places, people still buy them if only to smoke at home. When you buy a pack of smokes, you pay taxes. When you buy an e-cigarette, you don’t pay the taxes and it may be helpful in helping you to forever forego, paying the cigarette tax.

It’s all about the taxes. The banning of big gulps was also about the taxes.

Don’t the cigarette makers hire lawyers creative enough to push past this? This ruling is ridiculous and should not stand. Are the tobacco corporations just going to take this? I don’t even smoke anymore due to sinus problems, but I defend the right of others to of course be able to use an E-Cig. If this ‘upsets somebody’ because is looks like a real cig too damn bad, get over it. They will be coming for our hamburgers next, you just watch!

Thanks to the government there are at least three generations who don’t just dislike smoking ... They are PARANOID of it. I’m convinced the “Surgeon General’s Report” was the government’s first experiment in “people control” ... guess what? It works!

You’ve GOT to be kidding me. Our little bass turd commie gov officials are now BANNING us from using something innocuous in public *gasp* because it just happens to look like another legal product they’ve decided is too horrible to look at(which most of them DON”T even they look more like fat pens if you ask me)What is next? Why are people putting up with this? I mean really?! I take a very dim view of the American people these days. Where’s the courage, the love of freedom, the don’t tread on me conviction of the American people?

So, now you have to have your beer in a brown paper bag in one hand, and you will have to have another paper bag for the e-cigarette in your other hand.

He has also banned holding white ball point pens (burning or not) in the manner a cigarette is held and/or inserting the end in one’s mouth in a manner that makes it look like a cigarette. This also applies to white colored wooden dowels (burning or not) of the approximate diameter and length of a cigarette. /s

I’ve never even seen one of these, but my granddaughter tells me they smell. One of her teachers uses them during the schoolday. I asked her if she was sure she wasn’t smelling the regular cigarettes her teacher smokes when school’s not in session. SHe wasn’t sure. Anybody know?
