Too often we think only or even chiefly in terms of punishment. Liberals actually had the right idea with rehab. They had the wrong source, however, which was man’s philosophy. That won’t prevail against forces of evil. Only forces of good can prevail. Frank, full Judeo-Christian (and preferably Christian) theism.
Until some other evil crops up, then kill them all... rinse and repeat... and as Gandhi said, an eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind. He also said Christianity was a marvelous idea but nobody had ever carried it out... while doubtless blinded a bit by his own oriental theology, there was some truth to that. What’s it going to take to get folks to dig into fox holes against Satan with the Lion of Judah again?

That would be someone’s opinion, and we know what that is worth. Frankly, I don’t think that can be nailed down, no pun intended.
This thread is just grazing the sexuality of man, and I’m certainly not an expert, but clearly a majority of mankind are wired heterosexual in order for the commandment to multiply and replenish the earth to be fulfilled. How that wiring is accomplished I don’t think anyone knows.
Clearly there are also those who are wired differently, and how that is accomplished is equally the mystery. We have labels and laws for normal and abynormal behavior but the whys remain a mystery, and one might ask who cares why. There are no excuses except in “this world” and most can understand why we have become a society of excuses for the frailty of man. Those with a conscience can understand, those without one desire to be allowed to escape from reality retribution, responsibility, recourse, jail, etc.
The closer we get to the real end of time, the more this stuff will be prevalent. That is no mystery either, so I guess my question would be what is the point trying to be made here.
Liberals have already gone there. There's a joke that sums it up perfectly. Two liberals, walking along in the city, discover a man lying in the gutter, savagely beaten and robbed. Upon seeing him, one turns to the other and cries out "We have to find whoever did this. That poor man needs our help urgently".
Think of how many times liberals claim that poverty causes crime (terrorism, you name it).
I can hear it now, “Quit being a bigot. I had homosexual sex with your five year old son because I WAS BORN THIS WAY!”
Obama and his party will demand we not judge anyone “because of who they love”.
If true, then send them right to the electric chair to protect the children and weed out the gene pool before they reproduce

I see that this is going nowhere. I was simply asking a legal question, only out of curiosity, but all I get is twisted replies.
I am now off to bed. Maybe I will “sexually assault my wife” :P
There has been a concerted effort to delve into the psychological and biological aspects of the subject under the umbrella of NARTH (http://www.narth.com). Looking at brain only, at best tells us half the picture. The other half will not show up on biopsy or X-ray, it is called soul. And theology that I consider reliable posits that the soul has become polluted at some point logically if not temporally prior to incarnation. We know it as the fall of man and it played out in the Garden of Eden at the Serpent's cunning call, but it involved everybody in a manner the bible declines to spell out the exact details of.
Anyhow, one of the interesting observations of NARTH, IIRC, is that the brain can change with the way it is used. If we refuse to be shackled down by materialism, then we can readily affirm that this has to do with soul. And because there is also now a Savior in the world, soul can choose redemptive goodness now, not mere Edenic goodness.

Locking people up is about protecting other people from them, not about punishment, so it doesn’t matter whether it’s hard-wired or not.

Pedophilia, homosexuality and lesbianism as you and I know are linked. It would take a Sharpie of a Jackson (Kingfish and Amos. Wookie is Sapphire.) to eventually link it all up with their brand of racism.
If this is true, pedophiles should be sentenced to death after their first conviction. They are true predators on the most defenseless in society and should merit no more compassion than we show to rabid dogs.
