Ansel, I don’t know what drives you so on this subject, nor do I care. But what I do care about is people that make rewriting history a hobby. Now, as in our last go-round, liberal BS must be countered. So allow me to continue doing just that.

Ahem....

It is said that art imitates life. Last night via freepmail, it was pointed out to me that the lie of your assertion can be found in yet another way. Look at many classic movies of the war era and prior. in them, you will find instance of young marriage addressed/explored directly and in background. And while the actors portraying the man and women were often older, the CONTEXT of what they portrayed was of a VERY young couple, the avoidance of spinsterhood, trials and tribulations ect.

So riddle me this Batman, If young marraige was the uncommon occurrence you persist in claiming, why is it that it pops up so often in movies, books/literature et all with such frequency and THROUGHOUT HISTORY? Why did so many people use a plot device that was so supposedly rare so very often?

Romeo and Juliet anyone?

Also, lest we brush it under the rug, the number of freepers on this thread backing my side of the argument is more than double (and growing), compared to last night’s small sample, while the same 4 people deny the proof of the world around them.

So man up. tell all these people that they are lying when they relate their personal experiences to their virtual faces. Because the alternative is that this microcosom of America is in fact reality.

Ball’s in your court sport.

That’s the one. Not exactly guillotining dolls on stage there is he. Looks almost...respectable! GASP! ;)

And yea, the blond version is definitely worse than the SF version. MUCH.

“You do realize the Marxists are trying to destroy him.”

Seems to me he’s doing a pretty good job of doing that all by himself.

“You don’t like the marry them young fine...”

His comments weren’t about marriage. They were about marriage specifically to young girls as a means of controlling them. That is both un-Christian and unconscionable. Do you support Muslims who do the same thing??? Please tell me you do because then at least you wouldn’t be a hypocrite!

“People have elevated this man way beyond his importance to American culture, lol! I’m glad he’s back on the air because I hate political correctness but those fifteen minutes are ticking away.”

Agreed on every point!

Actually Mooselips marry girls younger than 10 and have no say in the marriage. He is promoting finding them young and molding them. Seems his wife is not controlled by him so you may be just spouting emotion.

Go hate somewhere else.

“He was 18 when he started dating his wife who was 14 then, and he married her when she was 16 and he was 20.” And he would’ve gotten my boot up his ass for trying to pull that on my kids!

And you prefer girls having a succession of "hookups" instead, and winding up at 24, jaded, having difficulty with bonding due to too many heartbreaks, and likely with herpes and other sexual diseases?

Maybe not marriage at 16, but I think girls should look at being married by 22.

He is another apparent internet warrior/tough guy preparing to time travel through his own family past to kick the ass of his ancestors.

These people are so in denial of their own history it’s kinda scary.

RE: How old was the Virgin Mary when she was be-throed to Joseph?

The Bible does not say, so we can only speculate.

In Isiah 7:14, it says : Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin [Hebrew: ALMAH] shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel

The Hebrew word ALMAH refers to a young girl that reaches puberty but still under the care of her parents. Mary being an Almah may have been espoused to Joseph as a teen.

So you assume all girls not married by 16 are whores and sluts???

Wow.

Physiological maturity does not equal emotional maturity or even intellectually ready.

I know women in their 40's who are not emotionally or intellectually ready to be adults.

This is why parents used to be heavily involved in such decisions.

“Marry ‘em young so you can control them” is hardly the kind of world view I would expect rational people anywhere to support.

Phil did not say "so you can control them"

That was the article author's interpretation of what Phil meant.

My family is from the West of England the only way to get good data before 1850 is Church Records. My family has been in the same village for about 700 years, those of us that didn't flee to the Colonies. We were trades men so we can research Town records for indentures of apprenticeship. Men were two to four years older than the women and they were established, Journeymen.

Yes I know and agree, my family arrived here in the 1630s, marriage records are not a new invention, nor something that can be shouted down. It is how things like marriage age can be researched.

Nowhere is Phil condoning any of this stuff you have said. To claim otherwise is not being honest.

This whole thing is something Phil has said in his testimony, on the show, and in his book. It is a joke. Here is the excerpt from his book where he says the same thing:

"Miss Kay was the perfect woman for me. I was sixteen and she was fifteen when we were married. Nowadays some people might frown on people getting married that young, but I knew that if you married a woman when she was fifteen, she would pluck your ducks. If you waited until she was twenty, she would only pick your pockets. Now, that's a joke, and a lot of people seem to laugh at it, but there is a certain amount of truth in it. If you find a nice, pretty country girl who can cook and carries her Bible, now, there's a woman."
