If the laws are there, then you’re going to be identified, one way or another. I’ve been stopped before, without any ID on me, and all they do is get your name and birthday and where you live (like in town or in another city) and they’ll call it in and get the proper info from your ID on record.

SO ... you really don’t have to carry “papers” or “ID” when you’re out and about.

Since it is not universal, then, yes, you carry your papers. That is your obligation. No right without an attendant obligation.

Cops are used to reading DLs not Passports.

True, passports are more than one page...can be tough for some of them.../ S

Don’t think we should burden the police beyond reason. It may be too time consuming to check out a person’s right to open-carry. So you are there, and he is there, when both of you ought to be about your business. in this instance, it ought to have been the manager who was doing all this stuff while waiting for the police.

Brown v. State of Texas, you aren't required to have ID. They can't detain you just because you don't have ID.

No way I’m using “liberal tears” as lubricant on any of my firearms. I’m pretty sure that stuff causes limp barrels and shriveled parts.

If it’s shown that you order all blacks off your business property - you’re going to be in a heap of trouble ... :-) ...

If you order all women off your business property, you’re going to be in just as much trouble,

If you order all who vote for the GOP off your business property, you’re going to be in a heap of trouble.

If you order all Catholics off your business property, you’re going to be in a heap of trouble.

If you order all wheelchair people off your business property, you’re going to be in a heap of trouble,

SO ... you see ... there are a whole lot of other people you can get in trouble about - in terms of ordering them off your business property

And here, we’re talking about business property that is open to the public to come in and “do business” with them.

The best way to deal with them is not to debate or argue with them but try to reason with them if you have a valid argument

I agree with you, citing "constitutional rights", personal bravado and a camera is no way to deal with an LEO. The guy is simply doing a job and making his job as easy as possible is the best way for the both of you to separate and go your own ways without anybody's toes getting stepped on.

It should be echoed that somebody called in a report of people armed and he had no choice but to respond to the call. I'm sure he was already in a heightened sense of alert once the mention of firearms and thus the apparent agitation.

As a side note, I'm not in favor of this group's Youtube channel being used to document their own personal encounters with LEO's while they are armed.

I have certain bumper stickers on the back of my car as well as a personalized license plate and several times while at a stop light, I have witnessed the driver of the car behind me using their cell phone to photograph the back of my car.

For what purpose I don't know but what I do know is that I have googled my license plate # and have discovered several conversations about it, my car and myself from individuals in my location. That's a little disturbing....

The police can ask for ID and to do so under almost any circumstances.

They can ask...BUT not at all clear that you have to provide ID. "Terry Stop" info here.

In Arizona if you want to open carry, you need a weapon. If you want to carry concealed, in your pocket, you need a weapon and a pocket.

What’s better than a passport? Very strange.

I used to wonder the same thing until I tried to buy some pseudephedrine-based Wal-Act at the Walgreens. Their explanation is that as an ID has no printed address, I could go state hopping to start up a meth lab.

Hey guys! You are Walgreens. You cannot cross-reference Passport numbers?!

The same folks here in Wisconsin who don't want serious voter ID seem to have no problem with stricter ID rules for getting cold medicine.

Unfortunately, there are a lot of limitations when we are on other people’s property either as a customer or as an employee — free speech and right to bear firearms.

That’s why I said they MIGHT be able to, because there are places they can “stop and ID” ...

Here’s some more information ...

He wanted to run the IDs to see if there were any warrants.

“Nevermind if you’re doing anything wrong now, I want to find something to charge you with.”

A warrant indicates you have already been "charged" or are "wanted" in connection to a prior crime. Cops perform that function as a matter of course during a potential traffic violation.

And if there were, I'd want them off the street, wouldn't you???

Good advice. And everyone should save and spend the cash on a retainer of a self-defense/defense lawyer—an activist lawyer (best defense against officious, renegade folks).
