What would a U.S.-China war look like?
The Week ^ | Eugene K. Chow

Posted on 01/01/2014 5:28:41 PM PST by Farnsworth

Imagine this: In the early morning, a barrage of more than 1,000 Chinese ballistic and cruise missiles bombard Taiwanese civilian and military targets.

As the U.S. Air Force stationed in Okinawa prepares to rush to the aid of its sworn ally, Chinese cyber attacks wreak havoc on America's air defense and targeting systems. A second volley of ballistic missiles detonates in space, destroying critical military satellites, while a third rains down on the base, damaging jets and leaving runways unusable.

Meanwhile, a U.S. carrier strike group led by the USS George Washington has launched from Japan and is steaming towards the Taiwan Strait. Without the advanced warning and additional data supplied by satellites, the group's missile defense systems are at a disadvantage against the Chinese "carrier killer" missiles that are streaking towards them. Defense systems do their best, but a few missiles still hit their mark, leaving the USS George Washington's flight deck unusable. America's awesome air and sea power has been sidelined.

Don’t think so. Our HMFIC will bunker up with his thumb in his mouth and his puppet masters in his ear. He will claim ignorance and give in pending approval of a good separation package including lifetime benies and relocation to a secret location - all records sealed, of course.

Another article, if you can find it is called “Without Firing A Shot” by John L. Perry. Originally on Newsmax.

The individual who wrote this is tryiong to have it both ways. US dominance, and yet Chinese AD so strong it stops the US in its tracks.

Yet, the truth is this:

The much bespoken DF-21D has never...as in not once...been live fire tested out over the ocean against a maneuvering target at sea. The best it has done was to hit a static target in the Gobi desert with the outline of a carrier. We do not know at what range, and we do not know hopw many times it took.

The difficulties with launching at an aircraft carriers are immense. 1st, you have to find it. That is nt as easy as it might seem. The ocean is a huge place, and in war time the carrier would be very quiet and be exerting its CSG to defend itself on all major threat axis so that no surveillance assets could get in range. It would use weather, EW and all sorts of decoying to fool even satellite imagery should it have a chance to see it.

Then, once launched, the warhead will have to re-acquire the target as it enters the atmosphere and the AO. It will have to do so in a very heavy EW environment against a target that has moved numerous miles in any direction since the missile was launched. If it over shoots at all, good luck on trying to maneuver n incoming RV traveling at many time the speed of sound to try and reverse course on itself.

Finally, should the PRC have all of the Command, Control, Surveillance, and Computer assets to make that possible, the warhead then enters the teeth of the strongest anti-missile defense (including anti-ballistic missile defense) on earth in the AEGIS system.

Monumentally difficult tasks which the so-called limited operational DF-21D has never tested.

The DF-21D is actually a very sophisticated Sung Tsu effort to attempt to get a more powerful enemy (The US Navy) to fear using its powerful weapon (its aircraft carriers and major surface combatants) in an area because their “might” be a weapon to counter it...not because there “is” a weapon to counter it. And many on the left, and even in our war colleges buy into it and treat something that has never been tested to do what it was designed for, as if though it is fully operational.

The more that believe this and cause the US to hesitate at vaporware, the more successful the Sung Tsu mis-direction effort is.

Sorry the U.S. public is not going to accept a war over some islands in the East China Sea or even Taiwan.

War is politics, not who has the best weapons.

China might be willing to accept 10,000 dead for the Senkaku islands. The U.S. sure won’t be. Therefore, China wins.

And you can mark that down for all of East Asia.

Incredibly, not a single reply here, of well over 100, outside of my earlier 2 or 3, even touches upon the fact that Russia has been staging joint war games with China in preparation for this and other scenarios since at least 2005. They call these joint military exercises “Peace Mission”.

We’d win, but would suffer enormously during it nd in the aftermath.a

We might still have the edge, but when is the last time we actually won a conflict? WWII comes to mind as the last actual victory.

thermonuclear ICBMs begin raining down on them like snowflakes...ALL of their major cities and defense installations are destroyed.....game over.

Yeah, right. Show me the US President - of either party, living or dead - who would ever give that order.

Any war between the US and China will be fought exactly like the Cold War - using covert operatives and "military advisors" in places like Sudan and Venezuela and Myanmar.

Yep, you called it, 1.4 Billion Chinese dead, 200 Million Americans dead and all the rest suffering from slow radiation poisoning and hunger. To bad that the Chinese don’t see it that way.

they and russia own the UN, why we are even in it is a mystery to me.

Actually, four groups own the UN:

1) The Anti American Government group

2) The Anti American People group

3)The Anti American Constitution and Constitutionally based Rule of Law group

4) And the Milk America for all She's got group.

Many belong to all four groups, but every damn one of 'em belongs to at least one.

The reason we are in the UN is because a goodly portion of American citizens are in the last two groups, as are most of American government employees.

The purpose of the UN, ultimately, is to use (preferably, unpaid) mercenary American military force to bully the entire world into New World Order Socialism where all "rights" are granted by government.

The UN could hide behind a false perception of it's purpose as long as Russia and China were far out in left field politically and economically, but both have partially cleaned up their act, and left the rest of the world's socialist's normally concealed objectives and alliance with radical Islam exposed.

The UN had Russia and China as members and gave them power back when it made the UN look good, and now they can't control them or get them out.

The failure of the false flag proxy war against Russia through Syria, is a sign of the collapse of the general plan. Historically, Socialists routienly start false flag wars easy as pie to further their ends. They don't always win 'em, but they start 'em just the same. This one was supposed to use the US military to do the fighting, and the Socialist-radical Islamicist alliance would have won.

The Russia-China (and 3 others) veto in the Security Council is what gave Putin the time to outflank Obama and the Saudis.

Incredibly, not a single reply here, of well over 100,...

Feeling ignored, are we?

The Chinese and Russians train and refine their hardware? Who would have thunk it?

I'm certainly glad nobody else does, especially us.
