The 22 crew members still aboard the Akademik Shokalskiy are expected to remain with the vessel, according to the Australian Maritime Safety Authority. The ship isn't in danger of sinking and has weeks' worth of supplies on board.

The Akademik Shokalskiy, which left New Zealand on Nov. 28, got stuck after a blizzard pushed the sea ice around the ship, freezing it in place about 1,700 miles south of Hobart, Tasmania. The scientific team on board the Russian vessel had been re-creating Australian explorer Douglas Mawson's 1911 to 1913 voyage to Antarctica.

I hope that these researching tourists are footing the bill for all of this mayhem.

Today, Saturday, the Chinese captain hoped the tide change would enable them to get free of the ice. I’m LMAO that the turistas have to stand by on the Australian ice breaker. If I’m reading the correct info, the closest heavy ice breaker is about a 1000 miles away. That one can handle 20’ thick ice. It’s not involved at this point.

One of the commenters called it the Al Gore Effect. HA! Makes perfect sense. Every time or nearly every time the idiots have a Gaia worship party/gathering/research into the polar areas mission or forecast disaster, they get the opposite of their intent.

God has a sense of irony.

There must be some mistake. The Chinese are superior to the rest of the world (and especially the USA) at everything, and destined to rule us very soon.

No Chinese captain could make such an error, and no Chinese ship could be trapped in this inconsequential ice.

I call shenanigans.

Were they HISTORIANS or GLOBAL WARMING NUTS?

I loathe the liberal media.

I hope the liquor locker aboard the Aussie icebreaker is full. These liberal “scientists?) are heavy drinkers.

A group of liberal pseudoscientists rescued from their joyride from more responsible men that work for a living. And count the cost.

These bullship “scientists” have no more credulity or honesty than a pack of drunken teenagers wrecking a car and laughing while their parents work to pay the bill, and to make the comparison complete, now they’re lying about why they took the car.

Liberals never pay.

This gem FTA: "Andrew Peacock, a rescued passenger aboard the Aurora Australis, says he's frustrated in the change of plans.

"Frustrated because we had hoped to have some certainty regarding a plan for returning to family and loved ones after already many changes, but of course we are very aware why there is a new situation here and so can't be too upset," Peacock told ABC News in a statement. "Having to just accept the situation for what it is and find ways to stay calm about it all and keep occupied - it's a wonderful environment, a beautiful sunset over the ice right now."

How can I get a ticket to Tasmania, so I can be waiting at the dock for Mr. Peacock. I want to bitch slap him around until he pees like a puppy.

Worried about getting back to family and loved ones? Excuse me, you little p***k, what about the families and loved ones on the two ships that just plucked your ass from that huge pile of Global Warming you were stuck in? Heck, what about the families and loved ones of all those Chinese sailors who 1) choppered you out and 2) are now stuck in all that Global Warming?

What in the Heck is wrong with these people????

Antarctica
They are morons.

This USED to be the way humanity had in eliminating the stupid. Now, EVERY effort is used to keep EVERY human alive.
There ain't no culling no more. The stupidest and most foolish are alive and breeding. I just read that Mongolian idiots those afflicted with Downs Syndrome and those with the 50 I.Q. or less DO indeed have a right to procreate.
Yikes.

Al Gore is finally a Shining example
Given the inconvenient turn in climate, this version is more fitting than the Jack Nicholson original.
