UN Agenda 21 at work to implement Communist Manifesto Plank #1, the elimination of private property rights.

A wood stove could enable you to live off the grid. Can't have that.

You’re assuming the pencil pusher would make it off my property.

Talk about perfect timing. These folks are either really bold, frighteningly stupid-or both.

An acquaintance, in his 80s, told me his grandfather had a coal mine in his basement that went back into the hillside. Grandma would yell at Grandpa when he blasted without telling her! Probably 1/4 sticks he got from the coal mine where he worked.

That’s the way to do it. When we built the house, we ran duct work down the hallway ceiling and to a vent by the wood stove. Turn a blower on, and the entire house is warm as toast.

A buddy of mine installed a fireplace insert unit made by Lopi in his old house. It is all the way at one end. It has a blower that circulates the air around the burn chamber. His main HVAC trunk line runs right under the fireplace in his basement. So he ran a vent line from the fireplace down to it. All he does is open or close the vent and he can blow hot air to the other end of his house 50’ away.

Ok, I don’t know much about wood stoves, but how does the stove affect the particulate emission that much? wouldn’t it be the type of wood burning/how hot the wood burns? Are they just requiring more filters in the chimney?

Remember what happened when our nannies at EPA decided that the old flush toilets used too much water? The used ones became valuable when you could find one for sale.

Watch for bootleg lightbulbs to appear.

Almost all of the higher quality woodstoves sold today by the major manufactures such as Vermont Castings, Jotul, Hearthstone, Woodstock, Lopi already meet this standard.

The cheaper steel stoves on the market do not.

Higher end stoves have catalytic converters or some other type of system that burns the smoke after it comes out of the firebox. This increases the efficiency of the stove and lowers the amount of particulate matter exiting the smoke stack. The benefit to you is that you do not get as much creosote buildup in your chimney. You do not have to clean the chimney as often and reduce your risk of a chimney fire. Stoves like Woodstock's Progressive Hybrid or Lopi's Cape Cod models have had their efficiency tested by independent testers at 82-83%. This is comparable to your typical oil burning furnace. Again the benefit is more heat from the same amount of wood. In addition these stoves have 12 hour burn times. Therefore, you can load them literally 2-3x a day. I am going to install one of these two stoves in my house here in NH.

Oh nice. Down here in Texas we don’t use em much to really heat the whole home, so in these cold winter months the fireplace is more of just a fun thing than an integral part of the home systems.

The problem with fireplaces up here in New England is that they actually draw the warm air out of the house as soon as you open that damper. They warm the room the fireplace is in, but suck the warm air out of the house to burn the fire and up the chimney it goes.
