I don’t have a recommendation...at this point the field is wide open, and now because of the Christie meltdown, more so.

As far as Clintoon....I believe there’s a good chance she won’t even be the nominee.

Dutch poses the question to demkicker: May we assume that you would prefer Hillary over Christie? That may become the showdown...

Speaking for myself, I prefer neither and now realize (it's only taken more than 35 years of voting straight Republican to figure it out) that arguing that Christie is preferable to Hillary is like arguing that socialism is preferable to communism.

Dutch, do you prefer socialism over communism, or vice-versa? How long is it going to take you to figure out that voting "against" Hillary by voting for Christie (or any other leftist statist Republican) is all pretend? How long is it going to take you to figure out that the only thing that counts is what you vote for? And that voting for liberalism, socialism or communism is NEVER voting "against" any of them?

While Christie may not end up being the nominee, I think the GOP primary system pretty much guarantees that in 2016, the GOP's presidential nominee will be a leftism-enabling big government "moderate" functional Democrat again.

More and more Americans are figuring out that what they vote for is what matters, and that voting "against" is purely semantic. It is why Romney lost.

And it is why in 2016, a serious third-party (actually, 2nd party, since Rep/Dem is one Uniparty, as many FReepers have coined it) presidential candidate has a serious chance at, if not winning, at least splitting the vote the way Perot did and throwing the liberal victor, Rep or Dem, into damaged plurality status where the majority of Americans rejected him or her in the voting booth. Such results would make liberals in both Rep and Dem parties move to the right if only to save their jobs.

On the other hand, if Christie/or clone or Hillary won, EITHER ONE, liberalism would grow stronger in BOTH parties.

I personally would have zero dif in preference between Hillary or Christie. What I WOULD prefer is for whichever one got the White House, to get there with less than half of Americans wanting them there, thereby putting liberalism on defense. VOTES COUNT. You don't get to vote "against," you only get to vote "for." So I will (again) be voting FOR A PLURALITY.

Dutch, you can vote for socialism or communism, whichever you prefer. I'll be voting to weaken them both.

Correction to my post #22 above:

On the other hand, if Christie/or clone or Hillary won with majorities, EITHER ONE, liberalism would grow stronger in BOTH parties.

If either one won with a plurality, liberalism would be forced to go on defense in both parties.

"Dutch, do you prefer socialism over communism, or vice-versa?"

Okay, I'll play...I prefer socialism. And I preferred Romney over Obama. Now, that I understand you enjoy having this communist (removing marriage, adding homosexuals to the health care actuarial pools, killing our ambassadors, deserting our allies, granting the nukes to the kooks, etc.) OVER Romney's despicable character, your argument makes perfect sense. Frankly, I'll take the lesser of the two evils any day of the week. You vote purity (and end up with Hillary next time), and I'll vote practicality. He may not be what I want, but he isn't what I think is most dangerous.

Well, she thinks she will be and the media will work hard to promote her to the young, uncaring voter. And, the far left wants her more than Carson. They, at least, will vote practicality over purity.

You are voting fearfully. I am the one voting practically.

Funny, I've never seen a purist anywhere, least of all on FR. All I've seen are folks who accuse others of being purist. In any case, I know what I'm voting for when I vote. How about you?

When you vote "practicality," what are you voting for, exactly?

I don't want to know what you're voting against. I want to know what you're voting for.

No you may not make such a ridiculous assumption. And that will not become the showdown. Christie will not get the nomination.

If you can get a very conservative, moral man/woman on the ticket, I’ll vote for the conservative. If it ends up a showdown between a bad RINO like Christie and an absolute off-the-reservation, self-aggrandizing communist like Hillary, I’ll choose the RINO. You stay home and congratulate yourself on “making a point”. Then, wait for the knock on the door by the largest GOV you can possibly imagine. Yeah, I understand you now.

You stay home and congratulate yourself on “making a point”.

Your staetment isPROOF that you have not read more than a few words of the posts you're responding to, and then responding with pure emotion -- that emotion being anger.

Go back and read before you respond, or get the hell off of discussion forums and don't expect me or anyone else with a brain to regard an opinon you express with anything more than sadness.

You are all broadcast, zero receive.

Hint (specifically, regarding my posts #22 and #29):

Staying home and not voting is STUPID and I have never advised it nor done it. Furthermore, I think Republicans who stay home and decline to vote because they hate RINOs, are being very, very short-sighted and emotional.

By the way -- PLEASE, Dutch, tell me what you are voting FOR when you vote for the RINO? Don't tell me what you're voting against. Tell me what you are voting for.

See, when I vote third party in a presidential I know exactly what I am voting FOR. Exactly. When you vote for the RINO, what are you voting FOR? Exactly?

Can you answer that?

You may wish to spend some time reading the posting rules around here, my FRiend. You cannot and should not pretend to know what I am thinking...

Perhaps you need to go back and read this non sequitor. Drop me a note when you have your story straight.

The Republicans are entitled to YOUR vote.

Make them work for it.

If they Run and Govern like Democrats and then demand your support otherwise the Democrat will win, than we are just being led into a Dog and Pony show aren't we?

I’ll assume your tongue is planted in cheek there. The Republican Party isn’t entitled to the time of day from me unless I feel they’ve earned it.

Otherwise, KC, you are quite correct. Voting for ‘the R’ is one reason we’re in the mess we’re in. We need to vote for ‘the C’ as the antidote.

Finny’s right on a couple of counts though. There’s no column on a ballot that counts ‘votes against’ anything. Only votes for. That’s why Ted Cruz said a vote for budget reconciliation was a vote for Obamacare, and he was right. You vote for it, you support it.

The other thing Finny is right about is not to stay home. That really doesn’t accomplish anything. There should be conservatives SOMEWHERE on your ballot that have earned a vote. At the same time, more and more of us have decided not to waste votes on liberal Republicans any more.

and skipping a line on the ballot sends a message too

They voted for all these races and skipped that one, I guess they didn’t like either candidate.
