current laws are not sufficient to keep guns out of the hands of felons

There are no imaginable laws that could keep guns out of the hands of felons. Our only choice is whether the felons will be the only ones armed or their law-abiding victims will be armed too and able to defend themselves.

” career criminal” - here’s a news flash! Why not control criminals? Instead of questioning why guns were obtainable why not question why he was still on the streets?

No doubt all these shootings have been caused by an acute shortage of gun laws.

For the sake of our own safety we can only hope that our noble government will promptly abolish the 2nd amendment and disarm us all. /s

What are we going to do about this gun violence?

“I KNOW! I KNOW!” says little Mary Democrat from the front row while waving her hand wildly.
“We need to take all those evil guns from every one.”

Police cannot, will not and do not stop crime or help citizens.
Their only purpose is to draw the chalk lines and document what has happened.
It is the citizen’s responsibility to provide their own protection and prevent themselves from being a victim.

Another brain full of mush grown into adulthood. Common sense stands no chance with these louts. They want to disarm felons before they commit crimes. This twisted philosophy makes every man a felon who only need a gun to do crime.
Without guns, they say, there is no crime, only petty larceny that does not hurt anyone. More easy fixes that do not work by a government bent on control.

An armed citywide task force to confront felons would work much better

No laws will keep guns out of the hands of felons. The Second Amendment (the RKBA “shall not be infringed”) properly observed is the law that curbs violent felons better than anything else.

As long as we allow for ‘disparate impact’, as long as we allow for ‘racism’ to be the battering ram that kowtows whites, as long as we pretend that guns and not criminals are the problem, this will continue to get worse. We are socially and culturally devolving down the toilet.

“What we need is a larger public health perspective to reduce gun violence.”

That has been tried repeatedly, and failed.

What has also been tried repeatedly, and worked, is gun liberty. Even career criminals admit that their biggest fear is an armed public, and that an armed public radically increases the degree of difficulty in committing crime.

Importantly, what few who support gun liberty recognize is that the twin of gun liberty is capital punishment.

However, opponents of gun liberty are invariably also opposed to capital punishment, because they have made this connection.

Over the course of many years, the opposition to capital punishment has successfully accomplished extreme delay, as a minimum, to justice, with outright prohibition also common. But gun liberty negates their efforts.

That is, when in preventing a felony crime, an ordinary citizen shoots a criminal to death, they accomplish instantly what takes lawyers, judges, juries and endless appeals and political intercessions, decades to accomplish, if at all. All the legal, political and emotional trickery they can muster is for naught.

And it unveils a great truth, that the citizenry *are* the law, not the police or government. And if the police and government are unable to provide justice, then the citizenry are forced to do so. So by affording the citizenry the ability to do so, the police and government cease to have power. In this case, over life and death.

Criminals realize these things, as do those who protect and defend criminals from the public and justice.

Those who advocate gun liberty should make this connection as well.

Government solution: Form a committee.

The author makes exactly zero case why addressing criminal activity as a "public health issue" will add a thing to reducing crime. Zero. This plea is simply one long soundbite with zero substance.

Language is a very large part of the problem. The word used to describe murderers is felons. Although not totally, the murder and gun crimes are related to the criminal black underclass.

To declare the solution to the problem is to assault the criminal black underclass with the full force and effect of the law is political incorrectness verging on heresy.

If there is not the stomach to set right the language, there is no hope for change in the behavior.

The crime of racism trumps the crime of murder

Have the predator capture the predators.

Where’s ARGUS?

Than, incarcerate/eliminate as justice determines.

The problem Milwaukee has is not about "guns". It is about "criminals", and how they are allowed by the court systems to run free.

I guess DeLorian didn’t get the memo that crime is illegal. Or maybe it was written in cursive.
