Why the GOP cavalry is not coming to Chris Christie’s rescue
Washington Post ^ | 1/13/14 | Sean Sullivan

Chris Christie is one of the GOP's brightest stars and one of its best hopes for 2016. But during his toughest hour, he simply hasn't been able to count on a chorus of national GOP support rallying full-bore to his side.

-snip-

Christie's rise in GOP circles is in no small part due to an invisible but immensely powerful donor and power broker class that loves him. This wing of the party tried to woo him to run for president in 2012, even after Mitt Romney was in the race. And they are expected to be there for him in large part come 2016, should he make a national bid.

For the most part, these are not the folks who are on the front lines of the media battle, making cable news appearances and staging press conferences. Karl Rove, who has defended Christie, is part of this group of behind the scenes players. But his forward-leaning public profile the exception to the rule.

Others have also rallied to Christie's side. Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus vouched for him Sunday. So did former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R).

Well, he is the GOP-e’s latest loser RINO. No wonder the left wants him nominated.

I think the reason is that the 2012 Romney nomination was the GOP spending the last of its credibility.

Chris Christie is one of the GOP's brightest stars and one of its best hopes for 2016.

Nice introductory sentence from the Washington Post. Now we know who they want nominated!

I'm sorry to tell you this but the so called conservatives in and around the big cities may look at him as a good candidate but all of us out in the fly over country just look at him as a city boy RINO.

He has never been or chosen one or even our leading candidate. We simply do not trust the big city politicians they do nothing but take from us.

Those who want him nominated are they very ones who want us duct taped.

I think Christie is likely telling the truth, but truth and facts have never mattered to the media.

Just look at Sarah Palin. It's all about the smear!

Sheesh, wise up, GOP-e!

Obviously, we true Conservatives don’t like him. But I would also contend that he is not the favorite of the GOPe either. I suspect that the GOPe are not comfortable with his feisty demeanor and would much prefer Jeb! from the meek and mild Bush clan.

Rush calls the Establishment Republicans Wildebeests. All of the Republican Wildebeests run away in fear while the lone R antelope gets devoured by predator(s).

That may be the reason. Those financing him are not idiots. Like any good chess player they work through the possible outcomes of various move choices to see what is likely. I suspect that no matter what move they make to support him, it results in a checkmate against him in the end. So they are cutting him loose to let the story take its course.

Quickly.
