The bad news continues at J.C. Penney.

The ailing retailer announced Wednesday that it was cutting 2,000 jobs and closing 33 "underperforming" stores in an effort to rein in expenses.

The store closings -- listed here -- are likely to be complete by early May. J.C. Penney said it expected the moves to generate $65 million in annual cost savings.

Publix has no business affiliation with Kellogg’s.

Don’t worry about him. Publix Toasted Oats are have no affiliation or with Kellogg’s Cheerios. I worked there from when I was 14 till 18, my father helped me get the job. I left there when I enlisted into the Navy. I still own $78,000 worth of their stock that I bought when I was an employee. I follow them more than any other company. My father was a store manager there for 30 years. He did very well.

Instead of trying to attract upscale dykes and fairies, JCP should have closed money-losing stores and opened up at least an equal number of new stores in new malls, or acquire a newer more nimble chain already in newer malls. Thanks Zakeet.

This story can’t be correct. I have it straight from CNN that unemployment is down and the economy is in recovery.

None are closing in Texas, according to the list.

In 2012 during my last visit to Penny’s—— didn’t know about their fagfest—— I purchased 3 Stafford size 18, 36-37 sleeve length dress shirts. I screwed up bigtime when trying one on because I didn’t try to button the damn collar.

Had them laundered and when attending a wedding a couple months later I couldn’t close and button the collars to wear a tie.

They had no jackets or sweaters that were big enough to get on BTW.

Well, at least the JCP men’s department does not suck as much as Target.

I worked once for 6 weeks as a vacation relief worker at a Purex facility in the early 1960s. We bottled bleach and various other dishwashing and laundry products in containers bearing many different brands.

Someone told me something similar, about a cosmetics facility in Vermont. Many different labels put on the same products.

I’m trying to remember. It might have been the same product (e.g. lipstick formulation) but different packaging for different markets. I think it might have been the Estee Lauder umbrella company (Louis Vuitton Moet Chandon Hennessey or whatever) that owns the whole thing. Basically what I was told was that marketing was a scam and some of the best-quality products could even be found at drugstores.

I definitely can believe it. Generics are often nearly identical to the brand names and a lot cheaper in a lot of items.

I’ve worked for a food producer and can testify that generics are not only often nearly identical, but often entirely identical. But that’s food, what do I know?!

“Generics are often nearly identical to the brand names-—”

They often are IDENTICAL,not nearly identical.

The brand name companies often do the manufacturing for the generics-——only the labels and/or packaging are different.

“close the mall and make the flea market daily”

They are halfway there, the brand new mall has yet to open (and they are now looking for alternative uses for it). The flea market can’t be daily because for at 16 days per year the parking lot is used by the Giants & Jets; also, some of the vendors have stores they operate during the week, while other vendors have regular jobs. There is a also a Wal-Mart within a couple of miles.
